New 100 point buy in for new owners INFO

We currently have Feb, but I'm looking for Aug or Sept. We typically travel in the Fall so the new banking deadlines don't work well for us.

This is probably an odd question but here it goes:

If you get a jambo contract can you use your 11 month window to book kidani or would that have to be done at 7 months.

Or simplified: If you own a AKL contract nomatter what house it is, can you book any other house at 11 months?

When we bought last week they told us that AKV is AKV, so the 11 month window works for both.

I think they're titled differently so that they could sell them in different stages.

First time posting here and a relatively new DVC member. We originally purchased at AKV in Jan of this year with 250 pts. While at Disneyland last weekend, we went to the DVC member event and added another 350 pts. The incentives we received for the add-on were $8/point, two annual theme park passes, an Adventure by Disney vacation for 2, and a (1) night stay at the Mickey Mouse Penthouse in Disneyland. After we completed our add on sale, we were also told a "to expect to see a increase in the cost per point after Saratoga is sold out" (which should be happening soon). Of course this was an unofficial statement from a DVC rep, but you know how those go. We also were able to see the model for the Grand Californian DVC resort. It is the same design as AKV, but of course with a different decor. DVC rep said they were going to use this model to sell Grand Californian and then would convert it and use it as the model for the DVC resort that is being built in Hawaii. Those of you who have been DVC members longer may be able to shed some more light, but this is from this past Sunday nights event.

Wow! Was this because of the number of points you bought, or is this something that is being offered on a minimal number of points? We just did another add-on and we were really not interested in adding on more, but with a sweet deal like that I could change my mind really fast! Gee, I hope it's not just for people who got an invite to the member event.

We're going to be there in September. We will definitely have to check out the new villas then. Can't wait.

I just called DVC and asked if the rumor was true, are they doing a 100-point buy-in for new members to AKL. The woman said "Yes, we are running a special" but would not elaborate. She then asked if I had talked to them before so she could pull up my information.
(Let me just say, my DH has been dangling the DVC carrot in front of my face since 2004 but really likes the sounds of the 100-points and the figures people have been reporting here).
Anyway, she told me the "normal" buy-in for AKL is 160 points at $16,640. Then she pulled up my info and tried to connect me with the rep we spoke to in 2004 ... the woman is off today. argh. So, she is supposed to call me tomorrow. Part of me says "Just connect me to anyone! I need to strike while it's hot!"
I am loaded with questions for them (even though I have a lot of answers from here).
I'm greedy and want my own points instead of always renting! This would be perfect for us since we pretty much only stay in studios on weeknights anyway. I figure we could play with room views and get two week's worth of weeknights out of 100 per year.

I'll start by saying that I only read the first page before posting....

This seems like a perfect fit for us! I have always wanted a 50-100 point contract ANYWHERE since we only vacation every other year. I have never even considered buying from Disney because we wouldn't use 320 points on one vacation. Well, not on a regular basis anyways. I was hacking out a bunch of numbers earlier and we could do a Su-Th in a 1BR SV for 150. With 200 points, we could do a 2BR! We don't travel during Easter or Christmas so those point values are irrelevant to us.

Am I correct that the cost of a 100 point contract would be $9600 directly from Disney? We don't need to finance. How much of that cost can be put on my Disney Visa? I assume they wouldn't charge the full amount. Also, I am travelling to WDW at the end of October. Any speculation if the 100 point minimum would still be in effect? DH will be in Montana so there would be nobody to stop me from realizing my dream of joining DVC!

Also, I've read many things about the difference between contracts at Kidani vs. Jambo. As I understand it, those who get Kidani cannot use their points until May of 2009. Other than that, there's no difference, right? Since we aren't planning another vacation until 2010, I assume that it is irrelevant for us which we end up with.

Sounds like you got it down. I purchased the 100 point contract yesterday. I was only able to get Kidani, although it looks like if you are more persistent you can get Jambo. It really made no difference to me because you can reserve at either at the 11 mo. window. Oh, and no dues until May 2009. Yes you can pay for it all at once and I think on a credit card if you want because I wanted to send them a check (or check by phone) and they wouldn't let me for the down payment. And yes we can not use it until Kidani is open (May 2009). However, my guide told me I could still reserve something at my 11 month window it would just have to be after May 2009.

This is my first post as a DVC member! OK, so not quite a DVC member yet, but we just took care of it all via phone and the paperwork is in the mail to us. Deposit paid and all. Kidani membership.
I would have never known about this promotion if it wasn't for this thread. YAY!!! I finally got my DVC!!

The 100 point buyin definately interest me but not so much for vacations at WDW. Can someone explain how vacations at other Disney resorts work? Is there a point calculator for all Disney resorts like the one I have seen for WDW resorts?

I would be interested in using points to go to Hawaii, on a Disney cruise and other Disney locals. Is there a list of all Disney locals?

Since I didn't take the tour and get the pitch when I was there two weeks ago what now is the best way to get information about the DVC?

And I just found this on the DVC website. "There are no Value or Concierge accommodations in Kidani Village". What does that mean for point usage?

Thanks
Autoeng
