New 100 point buy in for new owners INFO

Those incentives may be alluring enough to get DH to go in earlier. He wants us to get everything paid off first. That should take at least a year, am I foolish to worry about price increases/loss of incentives in the meantime? Or is being financially free more important?

We are in the same boat, we want to pay more things off. But after hearing about buying less points, we are so tempted. We will be in Disney in June and we have a tour schedule, it will be hard to say no. Since we will be there in June, we thought of ways to offset the cost for the downpayment. One way very cheap take home items for the kids. Another way we are staying offsite in a Villa, cook our meals instead of eating out. But I still wonder is it worth it to buy now:confused3

Hi everyone,
I am considering buying in at the 100 point incentive but had a few questions? Which points will they be? Kidani or Jambo. If they are Kindani then I wouldnt be able to use them until next year? I ask because I am planning a trip for September and am considering buying now so I can take advatnge of DVC instead of paying cash for the rooms once again! Also, will the 100 point incentive come with 2007 points? Just need some clarification before I call my guide tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

I work for DVC and I would be really cautious about giving out a guide's information to someone who is not his/her Guest. There should be a general number for those interested to call and get information.

We may have taken the plunge earlier had there been a 100 point offer in the past. We just recently bought (200 points).

But on the flip-side, if you can do it, more points gives you so many more options/flexibility. We were evaluating whether to do 160 or 200 points, and figured that at 200 we could go every year, whereas at 160 we'd have to skip a year every so often (we won't be able to do a studio with 5 people in our family).

This new 100 point deal has got us buying. I just called my guide and am waiting for a call from him now. We're doing it today hopefully. You can add on in any amount over 25 points from there on out.

My guide told me to give out his info to anyone who wanted info. I told him that there was a lot of questions being bantered about and he said he was happy to help out.

There may be some Kidani left. I was able to get Kidani and got 2008 points with a February use year. If you get Jambo, your points will not be able to be used until May 2009, but, on the plus side, you won't have any dues until then either.

Sorry, correction on this: I was able to get Jambo 2008 points, it is Kidani that cannot be used until May 2009. Also, I corrected the UY to 2008. (Sorry, still new to all the lingo)

Hi Roselark,
just wondering how many points you just bought in and got Jambo with the 2007 year points. My guide told me that at 100 point I could only buy Kindani, the newer one, and obviosuly could not use the points till next year. Just wondering if you or anyone else bought in at 100 points at Jambo and got 2007 year points. Thanks!

where you able to use your points for the August stay?

Sorry I'm late to this party. The answer, though, was no...not that we wanted to, since it was already paid for and we were spending a week on someone else's dime :)

I believe he means the "free money" from the United States Gov. that each adult $600.00... that files a tax return, doesn't make above a certain amount, according to my CPA...qualifies for this rebate. If you have chidren, you get an additional $300.00 per child.

This is correct. We're a married couple, no children, we're getting $1200 in rebate cash from the gov't.

The downpayment on this offer is $1040 (10% of the initial cost per point). Therefore, one could easily apply their refund check to both the down payment AND the first month's payment, which is $120 or so when financed over ten years. You'd even have $40 leftover for half a tank of gas!

Shell:

They are Kidani points, so no, you can not use them until May 1 of '09 (that's the date we were given, at least).

The program did NOT come with 2007 points.

HOWEVER, they were still offering 160-point contracts for Saratoga Springs (and perhaps AKV) that did include one-time-use only points. I am not too sure about the specifics, except that the $8-per-point incentive is there. Once our salesperson realized that we were not interested in using points this year because our scheduled trip is paid off, she quickly focused on the 100-point program.

If I were you, I'd ask about both possibilities.

Rose, I think you have your houses backwards...Kidani's the one that opens in May....

Does anyone know if you can split the downpayment? Can you pay half up front and the other half the following month?

Downpayment is due right then. But you can pay it with a credit card.

That's what we did -- put it on the Disney Visa, then paid it off the day it showed up, just to get the extra 10 Rewards Dollars!

For anyone considering buying in, but also worried about whether they can get points for this year, I offer this thought:

If you become DVC members now, even if you can't actually do anything with the points until May of 2009, you CAN still get the Annual Pass discount and other incentives for being a member.

That's what we're doing -- we'll go in August, and then go again in May on DVC points. The annual pass will cover both visits, plus since there will be 6 adults on our August trip we'll get the DDE and save even more money then. In the long run, we're giving the mouse more cash, of course. But at least we feel better about doing so.

Thanks for the reply- I was only thinking since I am already going in August, I could use the money I am spending on hotel, and put even more down on the DVC purchase- oh well

I got Jambo and 2008 points (February use year), but my guide did tell me that the remaining number of Jambo contracts were very limited.

We got the 2008 points also. I think we squeeked in under the wire.
