New “Key To Disneyland” interactive experience coming May 16th

They were out of stock for a few days and back in stock last weekend. I saw more kids carrying them than adults and the lines were much shorter (as were the lines for the MB interactives) than they were the first couple of weeks.

While it has been very popular (we did it over the first few weekends and there were lines at each station), pin resellers were also buying these by the armfuls. They figured out out to pop out the pins by a quick hack and are reselling the pins on eBay for a decent amount of money.

Frustrating to see that - I know many disappointed people with upcoming trips who will miss out unless they restock sooner.

Crazy to think someone would pay $60+ for a pin. $60 for the key and the experience, while pricey, I can understand.

My son completed the experience and received one of the more coveted pins (the one of the castle). As of last week, it was selling (not listed) for $100 plus on eBay. Wild. (He is keeping it, btw! He was horrified I even suggested selling it on.)

An empty key was selling for ~$40 on eBay.

Was just there on 7/24. Not sure I saw many tips before so wanted to share a bit from my experience. I had trouble finding some and only had the one day. We started asking the sweepers since they knew more than those at the gift shops at first.
1. The bubbles are from the station and not the key itself. Not all stations have bubbles.
2. Make sure it's on and lit before inserting to the portal. The lights and sounds must be on in order to register. Since those have buttons on the key it seemed as optional. The key does time out if left on when navigating to another station so always toggle off/on if you had kept it on
3. When I purchased they did acknowledge if I had trouble I could go to anyone at the gift shops for troubleshooting. I had an issue with my fantasy land one, probably due to #2, but didn't want to go back. They have a portal clock to help.
4. Fantasy Fare is next to the Royal Theater on the left. and not the Fantasy Fare store next to Small world.
5. Star Wars entrance is the one closest to Fantasy Land
6. New Orleans is in the little mall area
7. Rise of the Resistance is not obvious as it doesn't look like the rest but is across from the ride entrance.
8. Once the pin opens, make sure to remove the pin. Once you close that door it won't open unless it's put to the portal again. Or I couldn't reopen it to see if it did anyway.
9. The lanyard is just a wristlet. From other pictures we thought for sure the lanyard was bigger.

Fun Fact - the icon for the Fantasy Land item is really for Haunted Mansion. I had to show the cast member on their location list "clock" why I thought it was fantasy land as it was the position on their location board in the store. I had pointed to the icon and the cast member said that's for the Haunted Mansion; there is not one there and New Orleans is a different icon.

Fun way to interact with the park but after a while became tedious for me especially when I kept having trouble finding the portals. They're a bit hidden.
