I just called today (6 months out) to try and get a reservation at HHI for March 23-28, and there is NOTHING available. No studio, 1BR, 2BR or GV. Nothing! I have been reading, and thought that with Easter being so late (late April), this would be cake since we were fairly flexible with size of unit. But nothing! The CM from Member Services was surprised as well. Should we have been?

What do you think my chances are for a waitlist coming through? Right now, I am waiting on either a studio or a 1BR. It was just the automatic confirmation waitlist that they offer standard now... should I have requested a day-by-day waitlist, or what?

Thanks in advance! I'm really disappointed by this, and hope to hear that there was some terrible mistake and I have nothing to worry about!

Easter is March 23rd in 2008. You've hit the week after Easter exactly.

As Bobbi said, the week you're looking for is Easter week. I tried for that week at the 7 month mark and couldn't get any size room at HHI, so we're going to OKW instead.

Aah, I'm a dork. That's what I get for trying to plan frantically. I definitely saw the Orthodox date for Easter, April 27th. I thought it was awfully late!

Darn it! Any other suggestions? My husband has the second half of March off, and we were planning on driving to have a lower-cost vacation. We've been to WDW 4 times in 2007 so this was a perfect alternative!

Pray? With Easter pretty much everywhere will be booked in Florida. You could possibly try an II exchange for some resort closer to you. (160 pts for a 1 bedroom)

Searching II I see exchange availability in Orlando at Grande Vista, Liki Tiki and Sheraton Vistana Mar 16-23.

There's also availability in Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach. Marriott's Manor Club in Williamsburg is showing both weeks available. Nice place. Only issue may be the weather. Late March can still be a bit blustery up here. Although all the years I went to Williamsburg around Easter I managed to have unseasonably hot days and always got a sunburn.

I would suggest you consider an exchange to HH at one of the Marriott's or even back into DVC if you know how. There is availability as late as the 7-14 of March sitting there but I'd think the next couple of weeks would not be that difficult if you played your cards correctly.

I was looking at some of the Marriott properties there. Some look wonderful, but I haven't checked availability yet. I don't know what you mean by exchanging back into the DVCs.

There is some availability for the week that spans March/April for HH and some for the first week of April at HH and MB. If you know someone that's an II member, they may be able to get you an exchange back into DVC also. Remember that the way II works, most inventory that's in demand goes to ongoing searches first. So if you want something, you should put in an ongoing request for what you want and give it some time. Marriott's Barony Beach, Grande Ocean and Surfwatch are top resorts, many would say at are above the DVC resort there are in a better location for most people's need's, namely on the beach. Most would consider GO the top resort of the 3.
