Nevermind -- Figured Out The Problem

I'd post this on the tech board, but this board gets a lot more traffic.

Last night, my DD was using my Gateway Laptop to play internet games. Everything was working fine until one of our new puppies jumped on her. She lost the connection to the internet.

We have a wireless router.

I tried restarting. It didn't help. I check to make sure that the wireless connection is on. It is. It says it cannot locate a network. My daughter can connect just fine using her Mac. I have a mini-notebook that connects just fine. My desk top connects. Only this one laptop won't connect, so I can't imagine it is a problem with the router.

Any suggestions?

LOL---that happened to my daughter last week! For the life of me I couldn't figure out the problem....all other computers hooked up to internet but not her laptop- couldn't even locate a connection. I had NO idea there was a little button on the top on the F2 key that would shut off the internet connection! She must have pressed it while carrying her laptop into the other room!

Across the top of the keyboard area, below the screen are touch sensitive Icons, my dgs touched mine tonight and shut off the wireless. jt looks like a little antena with waves coming off in the center.

Just touch it and comes back on. It is sensitive for grandkids, puppies and kitty kats...
There is also a volume control to mute, or turn up and down, figured that out with the same dgs tonight...After he created me a Pet for Petville.....I have elephant ears.....

That's almost exactly what happened. Out of sheer desperation, I started hitting different keys. When I hit the Fn key, the light for the wireless came on. I had gone into the Programs/Accessories etc. and manually made sure that was switched on. I didn't realize that the Fn key also had to be pressed. Amazing the things we learn thanks to our little ones!

The same thing happened to us once when the cat stepped on the keyboard. Drove DH nuts until he figured it out. Glad you found the right key!
