Never Too Early! August Park Hours Watch

Count me in, fellow August-watchers!

Our fam of 5 is headed for 12 days of WDW fun this August. We're bringing lots of family with us too (BIL/SIL and 2 nephews, plus sis, BIL, and 2 nieces... whew!) And somehow, I end up as their anal-retentive, clock-watchin' tour guide....
<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_4_23.gif' alt='Watching The Clock' border=0></a>

Anyway, our loose plans thus far:

7th: Arrive at BCV for 1 nt. Enjoy SAB, Chef Mick's
8th -- Cape May for bfast, more SAB, then move over to BWV!
9th -- MGM -- prime time dinner
10th -- Blister, I mean, Blizzard, Beach, and some B&Cream for dessert! (Kitchen sink, I think!)
11th -- MK (and dh and my 14th anniversary...awwww) Bfast at CRT (I HOPE--will know in a few hrs!), dinner with all 13 of us at Ohana...
12th -- stickin' the kids on a Pirate cruise while SIL and I go get a massage! Din Din at HDDR.
13th -- Epcotin' it. Possibly doing the Illum. grand gathering dinner, if it isn't cancelled. If not, probably will do Teppanyaki.
14th -- Typhoon Lagoon
15th -- DTD and some RFC for lunch
16th -- now it's just us 5, so we are checking out of BWV and movin' to Saratoga Springs!
Probably spend day checkin' it out or in DTD.
17th -- dh takes boys to DQ; dd and I hit all the girl-stuff they made us "skip" all week long!
18th -- Whatever we didn't get enough of!
19th -- check out and start the 15 hr drive home...wah!

Somewhere in the midst of all that, we want to dine at ESPN (specifically, when the Phillies are playing, according to my dh and BIL!) We also want to dine at Crystal Palace, WHispering Canyon; "maybes" include Spoodles, Le Cellier, 1900 Park Fare, LTT... so many places, so little time/cash/tums!

Did you get CRT?

Sounds like a great trip. I am also the planner, simply referred to as travel guide Jane. We are bringing my ILs and my BIL. I am hoping that we have great fun and that my MIL doesn't drive me crazy  .

A Tarzan bedroom sounds fantastic. My son has a "Where the Wild Things Are" bedroom, and it is so much fun making a room all jungley! We found some really neat vertical border at Home depot that we used. It looks like tree trunks with vines and leaves around them. They have a coordinating horizontal border that looks like the leafy tops of trees to go around the top of the room. Very cute, and much nicer than I could attempt to paint! Easy to hang too!
Dying for August hours here too. I've already made our Cindy's PS, but would like info about EMH or E ride nights before I plan any more. Come on hours!!!

Well, must say I'm being a lot less obsessive about planning for this trip.
We check into POR on the 13th for two nights.
Chef Mickeys for dinner on the 13th. Probably doing MK that day/night.
14th...MGM and BB
15th...move over to BWV
Goofy's at Cape May for breakfast, then Epcot
16th..MK most likely
17th..Donald's for breakfastasaurus, then AK
18th..Epcot for lunch in WS...probably Alfredo's
19th..MK again and then back to WS for dinner
20th...Crystal Palace for early dinner and hopefully E-night
21th...MK and leave late afternoon

I'm just kinda playing it by ear this trip. Really relaxing hopefully.

goofy4tink - Looks like we're planning to stay at WDW again the same time this year (we were both there around the same time last August!). I'm hoping to go the 14-21st too and wavering on where I want to stay.

I just hope they have eride nights and hours similar to last year's. It worked great for us.

Well, this is exactly what I was perusing the boards to find... August hours! Apparently they're not out yet! :) Hey, at least I can pass the time in here. We'll be there August 1-7. The 3rd is my dad's birthday and we're thinking about Hollywood & Vine's CB or lunch. He'll be 54 and instead of spending it at CG or somewhere fancy he's all about the CB! lol, it must be where I get it from. Anyway, let's hope the hours are out soon!!

We're waiting for August hours too. Going for hubby's 40th. Will probably do a PS at EPCOT since that is his favorite park.

:bounce:

Waiting with the rest of you! :hyper:
Will the park hours for August be any different from what they were last year?
Just wondering.
We will be there August 3-13 and for the first time we will be staying at OKW. It's my 14 year old nieces first trip to WDW:cool: So we are all very excited::yes::
 :sunny:

Come on now....make a choice!! We'll be at POR for two nights and then over to BWV for the first time. Here's hoping for better night-time weather!! The hours should be similar I would hope. Keep watching.

Well, I was looking at June and July hours and there seems to be a pattern with E-ride nights, Mon., Wed. and Fri. Last year E-ride nights extended up until 8/22 and E-ride nights were on Tuesdays and Fridays, so it looks like a strong possibility of at least Fridays through the 3rd week of August. Not sure what the pattern was for June and July of last year. Keeping my fingers crossed! The only thing that would throw my itinerary off at this point would be EMH eveings.

I made all my PSs Friday at Epcot for 8/12; got the times I wanted! :D
I made my Chef Mickey's PS yesterday for 8/13.

Now I'm considering making a dinner PS for my birthday too?!?! I'd probably make it for 1900 Park Fare though.... I'll have to see in the next couple of days, to what I decide!

yup -- I got it, twice over! I made original ressie for 5 of us at CRT for Monday, Aug 9th (based on my sister's plans). THen sister tells me -- ooops -- her gang is not coming in until Monday NIGHT. So I get up early yet again and manage to secure the new ressie andditch the old one, this time for Wed Aug 11th at 8 am. I also went ahead and secured CP at 8 am for 8 people. THe CRT ressie is for me, dd (age 4), my sis and her 2 dds (teens). THe CP ressie is for everyone else (mostly princess-loathing boys and some dads!)

I too had noticed the "pattern" in the eride nights (mon, wed, fri) and am reallllly hoping that holds true -- Wed night would be PERFECT for lots of folks in our group, and dh & bil are especially interested. Keeping our fingers crossed!

C'MON AUGUST HOURS!

Oh jeez, what happens with e-nights???

I just made all our PS's and we are planning to be at MK on a Friday. We are not staying on site. Does that mean the park will close early???? I thought it would be open until 9 or 10???? Will there not be fireworks??

I made ressies for Ohana at 8pm and hoped we could either see the fireworks frmo dinner at 9pm or go outside and see them at 10. Have I blown it??

Waiting for hours is stressing me out!!!

Julia

Wishes still goes on at regular park closing even if there's an E-ride night. Look at the schedule for June and July and you'll see what I mean. In July for example, Wishes is every night at 10:00 even on Monday, Wednesday and Friday when it's an E-ride night. The only dilemma we have is when Wishes will be showing in August but I would think it would on a Friday. I'm sure some vets can give you more historical info on this.

The 3rd and 4th weeks of August last year had different hours than the rest of the summer. The 3rd week was the last 2 eride nights. I know there wasn't fireworks or Wishes (what is that?) on the Friday the 22nd last year....there was a 7 p.m. eride night and no fireworks or anything. There were parades and fireworks in the evenings at the MK some of the nights of that 3rd week but not on Friday. I don't remember them having it on Tuesday either (night of the 8pm eride).

When there is an early eride I think they won't have fireworks and such. We won't know until the schedule comes out however. And even then they might change it shortly before your visit (I don't know when exactly you're there...what week in August).

last year the e rides in June and July (and August) were Tues and Friday...now with this year's June and July being announced as Mon Wed Fri--I suspect August will be the same--which will require me revising the whole schedule I had devised...confound it...I really liked it better when they had the hours out a little bit more in advance....

I'm waiting for those enights too. We want to go to La Nouba on the AP discount, but think that can only be booked 14 days out. I guess I'll go ahead and book some lunches, but keep the evenings open.

Monday -- Royal Pacific Hotel, Universal and IOA
Tuesday -- Royal Pacific Hotel, Universal and IOA
Wednesday -- finish up IOA and Universal, move to Pop Century
Maybe La Nouba that evening early show
Thursday-- Segway tour at Epcot, maybe lunch at Biergarten
Friday -- 50's Prime Time Cafe, so I guess MGM in day ???enight
Saturday-- end with Spectro and Wishes

We'll have to do Illuminations, Fantasmic, and Wishes around the enight schedule. It's just too hard to plan now without the hours.

While much can change as we await late August hours, I was wondering anyone's thoughts recommendations on parks to vist on which days.

We have 3 day PH+ passes (DS-8 and me). He wants to visit a waterpark with the plus. We will be in Orlando the following days:

Arrive late afternoon, Wednesday August 25
Thur, 8/26
Fri 8/27
Sat 8/28
Sun 8/29
Mon 8/30 depart for home.

My initial thought was:

Thur AK(AM)/MGM (PM)
FRI MK
SAT Waterpark in the morning/hotel PM
SUN EPCOT

I know waterparks are real crowded on the weekends, any thoughts/suggestions?

THANKS!
