Here's the story...we flew into MCO, via SW from Providence on Thursay, the 26th. Had a fun day in WDW and headed to MCO, on Sat., to pick up our dd and rent a car for the drive to Tampa for ds's wedding. I head to the Alamo desk, where the line is huuugge. As I get to the front of the line, after a wait of about 20 minutes, the Alamo lady said I could use the kiosk to get my car. Okay...over I go. Nope, can't use it...something about my license not matching my credit card. Off I go to the counter where the nice lady informs me that I need to show her my return itinerary. Ah, what? All that stuff is back at the resort. Evidently, I have to show proof that I'm leaving on an airplane if I use a debit card. Yes, I finally did see that in the fine print but hadn't realized it sooner. So, the nice Alamo lady tells me to just head up to SW and they will give me a copy of my itinerary. Off I go....the nice SW lady tells me I can print it out using the kiosk...not the dread kiosk again!!! Nope, wouldn't work. The nice lady takes me to the counter where someone there tries to help. They can't find anything for me on file!!! Of course, I have no conf. number since that's in my bag back at the resort. They check under my name, my fellow travelers names...nada!!! I'm beginning to panic now. I'm thinking I'm going to do my Tom Hanks imitation from that movie about his living in the airport. My dd is calling my cell and whining that she can't find my dh....hang up on her!!! The nice SW lady hands me off to her manager...this has all taken about 30 minutes. Now, I am standing there, in panic mode, with my foot nicely resting up on the scale. Pity the poor man who put his bag up there to check it and the scale said 70 pounds!!!! Color me beet red!!! I removed my foot, his bag is now 48 pds!!! The nice manager lady takes my flight number and name and up I pop!!! The previous woman who had helped me had messed something up, and couldn't find me using her method. She apologized over and over!!! I have to say that every single one of those SW people that I encountered were terrific!!! I have never had such good natured and supportive help from any airline reps to date.
Just had to share my story of stupidity with you all....and to let everyone out there know that a previous SW non-believer has been converted!!!!

Have been flying with them for about 5 years. Took some getting used to but we love them! I just flew US Air for business last week and it made me realize even more how much I prefer SW!

:lmao: Sorry Diane, I was just picturing this in my mind...

Like the PP said, SW has a great crew that rarely has a bad apple in it. I also have been flying a few times a year with them from PVD to MCO or TPA and can't remember a bad trip that wasn't a freak of nature (like spending the night on the floor at BWI due to de-icing problems- but that's another story!)

Hope you had a great time once you got to Tampa!! :goodvibes

goofy4tink, I remember you asking for info on where to park at TF Green. I was just wondering where you finally decided to leave your car? I had suggested PreFlight Airport Parking.

Yep, we tried PreFlight and loved it. It was incredibly convenient. Even my dh liked it. We'll be using them again!! Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh yes Barb, it was something to see.....I felt like such an idiot. But....I made it out of MCO without causing any undo concerns to other drivers, there were no mishaps. We did just great. Even did a good job of navigating around Tampa and Clearwater...yes, we had a wonderful time there. Now, I'm an official mother-in-law!

Well, I gotta agree. Flew them this past weekend for the first time since they were a new airline. On both the outbound and inbound flights the jetway door opened and off went the passengers. Moments later the pre-boards boarded followed by everyone else already lined up efficiently in A-B-C order. Open seating meant that everyone just sat down where they wanted and none of that fumbling around looking for seat 32A. Same peanuts and soft drink as the other airlines but the bonus of Just Plane ritz-like cracker cookies. Tasty. That plus $49 each way to Chicago and I've got to say it.....Southwest is pretty impressive.

Glad I could be of help. Always nice to hear one's suggestion works out well for someone.
