Never stayed offsite before....

DH and I are attending a conference with some students in April, and we have never stayed offsite before. So, I am looking for some tips.

We will have 2 students - great kids who are really responsible, neither have been to WDW before.

We are staying at the Rosen Plaza Hotel. I have never been there, has anyone stayed at this hotel before? Can you tell me a little about it? Is it nice?

Parking at the parks - like I said, we have never stayed offsite before, so this has never been an issue for us. We will have a rental car with us. How much is parking? We both have APs, do we still have to pay for parking?

Any additional tips you would like to share? I have a feeling this is going to be an experience, to say the least.

Parking is free with an AP, so not an issue.
