Never Say Never Under 7 Days

After calling MS 5 times today (yes-five!), I was able to switch our 3 nights in a 2 BR to a 1 BR and switch the one night in a studio to a 1 BR at BWV for this coming weekend. I never thought it would become available but MS were great in encouraging me to keep calling severa times a day now that we are under 7 days. The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster trying to make contingency plans due to my mother fracturing, requiring surgery her leg and finally last week she made a final decision that she was unable to go with us to WDW Thanksgiving week. We decided to add one day at the beginning of our trip and cut off a few dats at the end so we can head to Bradenton and visit my mom in the nursing home/rehab facility and dad for severl days and Thanksgiving. With only three people now in our group, we didn't need a 2 BR unit so I am glad we won't be wasting any space, nor will we have to move after our first night. This will also open up a studio for someone else. The moral of the story for me is not to give up and to keep calling under the 7 day mark.

Personally, I have found that calling as much as possible during the day is worth your time in "finding" new availability! Most of my trips have been last minute, or have had to be revised last minute (DH work makes it difficult to plan ahead). An example, we just decided 2 weeks ago to plan a trip for Dec 5 to 9th. So, called up and there was no availability at any resort for even 2 nights together in a 1 or 2 bdrm. Went on WL for all 4 nights at any resort 1 or 2 bdrm. Then, each day I would call probably 8 times per day to see what might have become available. About 4 or 5 days into my calling, I was able to get the last 2 nights at BWV in a studio stnd view, then 2 days later, I called right at 9:00 am, and the first 2 nights were available at SSR 1bdrm, and just like that, I had all 4 nights on property but would have to change rooms one time. Kind of a pain with 3 kids (6, 3, and 2), but atleast I got something! Ofcourse, I stayed on the WL for all 4 nights in a 1bdrm (decided to remove the 2 bdrm possibility from WL, didn't want to use all those points). Each day I was still calling a lot of times during the day to see if maybe there was the 3rd night at SSR 1bdrm, then I could cancel one of my BWV studio nights. But, nothing available, until I called one day last week, asked what was available in a 1 bdrm for any of those nights the 5th to the 9th, and MS says "oh, we have the BWV 1bdrm pref/garden view for all those nights". I said "grab it" before it's gone, so she did. Then, I asked why I didn't get this via my WL, since I was waitlisted for all 4 nights at any property in a 1bdrm. She checked my waitlist and it turns out that I had every single possibility on my waitlist, EXCEPT the 1 bdrm pref/garden view room category!! Go figure, whoever set up my WL made an error, but because I was persistent I was able to get all 4 nights in one place/one room!! Hooray! I was thrilled, to say the least. Moral of the storey- BE PERSISTENT.
