Not sure how I did it, but I have NEVER had a reason to rent a car in my life so I do not know the ins and outs of finding a good deal. I have been googling and searching for deals thru MyPoints, but can't seem to get anything with four doors for under $450...I need to rent a car in October for a trip from Phoenix to Grand Canyon to Las Vagas and back to Phoenix to fly home.

It is about 800 miles round trip and we would have the car Monday-Friday mid-October. Maybe $450 is a good deal:confused3 I don't know...

I do have a few discounts thru my insurance company, but it is about 10% and that is how I got the $450 number and that is the final price with all taxes and such. Any car rental pros out there?

Try looking on the transportation board, lots of rental car info over there, including deals and discount codes.

Its been yrs since I last rented a car, that figure seems high, but I haven't priced a rental in a while.

try budget with offer code X793206. I see quite a few types of cars for less than 450. It could depend on your dates though.

I rented a car last summer from Avis through Costco, I think. It was less than $500 for 3 weeks.

carrentalsavers.com They plug in the codes for you. Check and recheck every day as the prices can change (and do) often. LOVE this site. One of my best reccos.

Good luck! You don't put in your credit card until you actually rent the car. You can book, cancel, rebook as many times as you like. I have used this site exclusively for 4+ years.

I got a discount thru credit card points... discount of like 150 bucks just for using the card... I actually paid $0 for a 10 day rental.... would have been close to $400

Also, visit Mousesavers and go to the thread on Rental Cars. She posts updated codes for each rental company and gives tons of advice for 1st time renters.
