Never been to Le Cellier...

From one Long Islander to another, I say don't go out of your way for it. It's overrated and, IMO, your not missing much. You can basically go to an Outback and get the same quality steak

I agree. Our food was good, but nothing special. Youn definitely get a better steak for the price at a nice steakhouse (Morton's, etc...). We did think the atmosphere was nice but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again....and I certainly wouldn't use 2 dining credits if on the DDP!

:rotfl:

Yep, thats pretty much my thought. Probably why I have never gone...I make great steak at home. And if I go out for steak ..I live in NY - Peter lugars, mortons, the sagamore, chas rothmans and old homestead....Okay, I feel that way about alot of Disney restaurants. which is probably why I pick things like O'hana, Wilderness lodge..things with tons of themeing for FUN.

We like it, but we are just having lunch there, so only one credit each.

I like the pretzl bread. I usually get a steak. Last time they let our son have a virgin frozen strawberry dacquiry for his drink. He loved it.

As far as theming, it sort of looks and feels like you are inside a castle.

We like Le Cellier...okay, DH LOVES it...the cheese soup, pretzel bread (great for dipping in the soup) and the filet...really good IMO. And DDs adore the chocolate moose!! But for us it's not worth the two credits for dinner, especially with kids. So we have a lunch ADR set up for our October trip.

We went last night for the first time, and I read so many negative reviews that I was surprised to find that we really loved it and completely drank the Kool-Aid. :lovestruc The Le Cellier Filet was incredible, and the risotto was cooked perfectly - DH was tempted to ask for the recipe. DD loved the chocolate moose, and we all loved the cheddar cheese soup and pretzel break. FWIW, the table next to us concurred - the only negative was that we were seated close enough to make new friends.

By the way, our waiter, Collin, was on his first dinner shift and was thoroughly delightful. He was witty and very attentive.

We booked a lunch reservation there too just so we only had to use one credit. I am excited about it now!! :D

In 2010 we had a great meal,

this summer it was just okay. Pretty good value on ddp for lunch. I love the risotto, pretzel bread and cheese soup but next time we will try some other places.

Hands down this was the best meal of our entire trip. We had a lunch ADR there at the beginning of September. We actually enjoyed it much more than Ohana's.

We had lunch there back in August...mainly so we could see if it would live up to the hype. We went with a lunch ADR b/c I learned that they don't upgrade their beef quality for signature service. If the filet is the supposed star of the show and it's the same grade for both meals- I see no reason to burn 2 credits or pay signature prices for non-signature food.

So, the cheese soup was decent...only complaint was the texture and finish... had a canned condensed cream soup feeling...but the flavor was excellent and the pretzel bread rocked!

As for entrees...DH had the strip and while he said it was excellent and the best 1 credit steak he's had at WDW...he also agreed that it was a far cry from steak quality we'd expect in a fine dining establishment. I had the famous filet...the risotto was pretty good flavor wise- yet a bit gummy...the sauce did nothing for the steak IMO...but the biggest issue was the filet. I hate to say "issue" b/c the steak wasn't bad...just incredibly average. When I think high quality filet- it has a really good sear and a melt in your mouth quality. NONE of those words describe the filet I was served.

Would we go back? Maybe. I hate stopping for TS lunch and Le Cellier seems like a pure rip off for dinner....so, probably not any time soon.

Le Cellier is a must do for us, we really love it there. The Cheddar Cheese soup is really good (especially when you dip the pretzel bread in it), DH and I love the mushroom filet, and the Chocolate Moose desert is something my girls and I can't pass up. We only go for lunch, therefore we use 1 credit.

We love it-it's a do not miss on our trips. I have spent the last 5 nights trying to get in for lunch. FINALLY got TWO ressies :cool1: Do lunch so it's only 1 TS or less OOP-whichever you are doing. I don't think I would do dinner #1-two TSs. #2 I CAN make this stuff at home.
The steaks are fabulous, risotto is really good, but the cream cheese mashed potatoes are AWESOME (what I get instead of risotto, hibby prefers risotto) DS had a mango smoothie and cannot wait to get back for another! AND the MAPLE CREME BRULEE....out of this world!! I had another desert, hubby had the creme brulee and I kept dipping in his dish :)
Plus I found all the recipes and I make it all at home. DS will only eat Mine/Le Cellier mashed potatoes!! I just like to go there and have someone else cook it and CLEAN up after me.
There are only a few places we really LOVE and have to hav at Disney- alot of it is really overrated. OUR faves- Le Cellier, Tutto Italia, Ohana and Kona. Everything else is just so-so........
We'll be there for 10 days so we reserved each fave 2-3 times :woohoo:

HOW could I forget too- the cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread!!!! the entire meal is always perfect from beginning to end :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

you CAN get the recipes! email Disney directly (as I did, and the CHEFS themselves emailed me back- thought that was pretty cool :) some Disney cookbooks have them and I THINK there is a thread on here to find some. or just google it! something will pop up to get you there

I have to respectfully disagree with the "outback" opinions. The food is better than the outback, not that the outback is bad. We really enjoyed our meals. I didn't love the cheddar soup, but it was very good. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. If you haven't been there you should try for yourself. I've been to many a restaurant where there were negation reviews and walked away pretty satisfied.

My DH and I ate there for our anniversary dinner. It was our first time eating there and we loved it! I had the Canadian Prime New York Strip and I added a side of the Baked Macaroni and Cheese...both were fabulous! DH had the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon and the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup and was also very happy with his choices. I ate too much of the pretzel bread and had to get the Chocolate "Moose" to go (which by the way also good and so cute!) I don't understand why so many people cut this place down, we thought our meals were fantastic, but to each his own I guess !

It is overrated. I didn't even like the famous cheese soup, too strong.
But their breads, particularly the pretzel bread, were amazing.

I am a Hard Core Foodie and I was pleasantly surprised. I raise beef for a living so I don't get steaks ANYWHERE. The cheddar cheese soup was very "meh" for me and that is being generous. I thought the bread sticks people rave about were nothing speical at all. I had ceasar salad and it was very, very good and someting with scallops which was also very, very good. Server was Sean who was top notch. I don't do the DDP, but I don't think I would consider it worth 2 credits.
