Hello everyone, I am looking for any help I can get. We have been to Disneyworld numerous times! But when it comes to Disneyland we are clueless. I have a few questions:

1. Staying off site, what can you recommend? (within walking distance) I would love to stay onsite but the prices are very high. Do they run specials like disneyworld?

2. What airport do you fly into?

3. Does the time difference really mess you up?

I am sure I will have more questions but this all I can think of for now. :goodvibes Thanks for any help

Since we are local to DLR I can't help you on where to stay.

Airport-LAX, Ontario, John Wayne in OC, or Long Beach are all pretty close to DLR. We almost always fly to WDW from ONT-love that airport. I would pick the one with the better flights, prices.

Time change. We have the reverse problem flying from CA to FLA. For us staying up late is easy, getting up early harder. You'll be able to get up early no problem, which is great for park openings and Mickey' Mornings.

Have Fun!

Any more questions-you'll love DLR! I do!:wizard:

1. I have loved the Candy Cane Inn. It is within walking distance but also has it's own shuttle and offers a comp breakfast in the mornings! HoJo is popular as well. It is within walking distance and offers some great entertainment rates. I will be staying there in 3 weeks!

2. The 3 airports are Long Beach (LGB), LAX, and John Wayne or SNA. If you can get a good deal on SNA I would suggest that one. LAX is a little farther away, bigger and more of a hassle, but it has more flights and often times better prices.

3. I have gone the opposite way from West coast to east coast. If you make sure to get lots of sleep before hand and stay well hydrated you should be ok.

I hope you have a great time planning your first DL experience! Enjoy the magic!

Very important for you to check out the sticky threads at the top of this page. Also, stayed tuned to this board, lots of great information shared by the pros.

FYI we always stay across the street at a good neighbor hotel. If you have a choice, fly into John Wayne (Santa Ana). It's a great little airport and is closer to DL.

Hello everyone, I am looking for any help I can get. We have been to Disneyworld numerous times! But when it comes to Disneyland we are clueless.
First the basics. "Disneyland" (aka DL) is a theme park (like Magic Kingdom) at the "Disneyland Resort (aka DLR) which is a resort like WDW. DLR has two theme parks, three hotels and DTD. So technically you would be visiting DLR, with DL a part of the visit. :)

The off-site locations are all independent and some of them do run specials just like all hotels do.

Here are some links to help orient you to the off-site hotels:

"How Far Is It?" (shows actual distances in feet from hotels to DLR entrance plaza) www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm060329as

"Walking Distance Accommodations" (shows hotels within walking distance) http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/maps/...g_distance_map

"Bret's Disneyland Lodging Map" (shows hotel locations around DLR) www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap

Personally we have stayed at Hojos and BWPPI and they both work for us. Depends on what you are looking for.

2. What airport do you fly into?
There are several choices.

The closest is SNA - John Wayne Airport - in Orange County

Also there is

LAX in Los Angeles
ONT in Ontario
LGB in Long Beach

These are all within 20-40 miles.

Further north is Burbank and further south is San Diego (maybe 80 miles away). I would not fly into San Diego unless you plan to visit there as a side trip to DLR.

3. Does the time difference really mess you up?
Well, it does not mess me up because I live in Colorado! Obviously it will be easy the first day or two to get up early for rope drop and hard to stay until closing. Use afternoon naps to help you adjust.

I am sure I will have more questions but this all I can think of for now. :goodvibes Thanks for any help
This thread gets lots of mileage around here and will keep you busy reading for a good long while. :goodvibes
