DH wants to fly to LA for a week in Feb. I know Orlando like the back of my hand but Calif. is a new experience.
Please give me basic guidelines. Flying from Canada.
Want to do DL, Knott's etc. but need help with hotel, car rental info., passes.
Thank you. There is so much info on this board I need a short version of all what is here.

If you are going to spend most of your time near Disneyland check prices flying into The Orange County Airport SNA. Sometimes it cost a bit more than flying into LAX. Others have reported decent prices flying into Burbank but that is a 45 + drive.
You will need a minimum 3 day park hopper pass to see everything at the two parks. Knott's is only about 4 miles from Disneyland. I usually find the best rental car deals by going to each website individually. Don't forget to check each ones specials link and check each one every couple of days as prices change.
Here are a couple links showing some of the motels and hotels around Disneyland. How much you want to spend and what kind of accomodations you want will help us give you more info.

Try this site and register for the message boards. These people are really nice, particularly in the trip planning section of the message boards.

Other than DL I would suggest you also look at others attractions in the area. Unlike WDW, DL only needs three days. Check out San Diego also.

That is a great start .... thank you so much for the info! I am looking at it all now.

I would try Priceline for a hotel. DW, DS and I went last year and got a great hotel in Buena Park (home of Knott's Berry Farm) for $31.00 a night.

During what part of February are you going? If you feel so inclined, you can go to where Disney meets Canada... a Mighty Ducks game. The Pond can be seen (I think) from the SkyWay... I know you can see the top of the Matterhorn from the Pond. The Oilers are there on I think the 25th. You could also go to a Kings game, but that's in downtown LA.

Do you guys have anything specific you would like to do in CA? As a former resident I might be able to steer you in the right direction.

<font color=navy>KingsFiRI, the skyway is no longer at Disneyland. :(

Sillyminny, I don't know if you'll be in the Disneyland area, or if you will be closer to Hollywood when you stay out here. Here's a site where you can get tickets to shows if they're taping. Most of these are in the Hollywood area:

I agree that a 3-day hopper would be good for the Disneyland Resort. If you're lucky, you'll come at a time when we have clear skies - in that case, you might want to go to one of the restaurants on the beach and have dinner and watch the sun set over the ocean. Also, that's when the whales start migrating down south, and you might see some whales (either from a whale-watching boat or a bluff overlooking the ocean).

A drive down the coast to San Diego is also nice.

There is definitely a lot to do here. :sunny:
