Can you believe that I have never been here?? I cannot walk too far - might need a wheelchair part of the time : :sad1: How far a walk is it from the gateway? Any suggestions for an ADR while we are there? :grouphug:

Another vote for spoodles! :) You will enjoy the boardwalk alot. If you get there at the time Illuminations is going off in Epcot you can watch the "higher" fireworks go off... just sit on the bench and enjoy..
Also, there is a great Icecream place on the boardwalk right next to spoodles...

Enjoy and have a great time! :sunny:

I loved Boardwalk, I never ate at Flying Fish but I've been told that a freind of ours said it was the best meal they had on the property. I had Spoodles for breakfast one day and it was ok. Enjoy yourself its fun there. :tigger:

The BW is a great place. Spoodles is a wonderful restaurant with great atmosphere. It's only a 10 minute walk or so from the International gateway at Epcot. ESPN Club is also a good place for casual dining if you like a fun crowd to be around. You're also just a short walk around the lagoon to the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. The Yachtsman Steakhouse is excellent at the YC and the Cape May Cafe has a fun clambake style buffet for dinner at the BC! Have a great time!

COMPLETELY DISAGREE!! FF is excellent and has become a "must do" every trip. Spoodles on the other hand has gone way downhill. I guess if you weren't there 8 or so years ago you would have nothing to compare it to, but we won't go for dinner anymore. Very limited menu now, food is so-so and so is the service. Breakfast is good, but service tends to be slow. ESPN is pretty good for an inexpensive meal. Don't be shy about venturing to the S/D restaurants, Palio and Blue Zoo are excellent.

We love both Spoodles and Flying Fish!

You can take the boat from the gateway to the Boardwalk. It docks very close to both Spoodles and Flying Fish.

If walking is a problem.... from the International Gateway you can take a boat, which will make stops at BW, BC/YC and Swan/Dolphin. There are many dining choices at these resorts. Our favorites are Palio at S/D (but I heard they may be closing????), Spoodles at BW and Cape May at BC.

I would highly recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse over at the Yacht and Beach which is across the lake from BoardWalk. It is excellent.

We have also enjoyed meals at Flying Fish (my favorite is the potato wrapped snapper) and at Blue Zoo (in the Swan or Dolphin, can't remember which...my husband calls them the Swalphin...lol).

We have also eaten at (yes we've pretty much been to all of them...such brats ;) ) Spoodles and it was a solid "good". You will get a nice meal there, but IMO not the "wow" factor as Yachtsman or Flying Fish.

ESPN is very inconsistent, but we have fun there anyway. We've had great meals and awful meals. It's basically typical sports bar food, i.e. wings, nachos, burgers, and beer! The atmosphere is a sports guys (or gals) heaven.

Cape May cafe at the Beach Club has a clam bake dinner. I know MANY people would disagree with me on this, but we did not care for it at all. Maybe because we are spoiled New Englanders who are picky about their clams and mussels and "chowda". I found the seafood in general "rubbery". The desserts were good though.

Whatever you choose you will likely have a great time as BoardWalk is very fun. Be sure to allow time to stroll the shops, watch the entertainers (they have jugglers, magicians, musicians etc.), rent a surrey bike, or whatever!!

*disclaimer: BoardWalk is our home DVC resort and any information presented in this post may be very biased!!!

I also rate Flying Fish as one of the best anywhere at Disney, either in the parks or at a resort. It is the only restaurant that I eat at at least twice every trip. One year, when on a non-Disney vacation (horror! - horror! - wash your mouth out with soap and water!!) I stopped overnight at Boardwalk Inn, just to eat at Flying Fish.

Spoodles, in my opinion is OK - but no more than that.

Which proves that tastes and opinions vary.

I last stayed at Boardwalk October '05. FF was packed every night. Even with priority booking we were given a pager and had to walk around the Boardwalk for 30 minutes before our table was ready. Spoodles was never more than half full.

What more can I say?

Andrew
