Never again.

I have tried to read about ROTR. Am I understandingcorrectly that you have to use a park pass to enter the park before you can even add you name to a boarding group?
Yes. You need to get in line before the park opens, wait for about an hour to get IN the park gates, wait til park opens and then frantically try to get a boarding time at the same time 50,000 others are doing the same thing. Oh, and do it in the dark, exhausted, sweating, and sleep deprived. Good times!

May be fun if you a local with an annual pass, but for those who have saved their pennies for a dreamy magical vacation to stand in this line, it is a nightmare. Oh, and do not attempt if you are claustrophobic. 4626340D1C8DB1-ADB8-4E75-8C32-FB3539DA0A6B.jpeg

I went last year at this exact time (left exactly one year ago to the day) and it was great. I would guess RoR is the big stressor this year so when the novelty blows off I imagine this time of year will go back to being a good time to go.

With that being said, sorry your trip didn’t turn out great and I hope you give it another go when the craziness of GE and RoR dies down.

Unfortunately, Guest Experience at Disney has turned into whatever your own personal “tolerance” level is and “flexibility”. Disney can still be a wonderful experience as long as you realize you may not be able to get it “your way” no matter how much pre-planning you attempt to do.
I don't approach a Disney vacation expecting it to go my "way" (whatever that means). I fully understand that there are thousands of other guests there at the same time and I certainly don't expect any special treatment. What I do expect is that they put ample time into building and testing attractions so that these failures do not happen as often. Certainly accidents will happen and they can't anticipate everything, but given Disney's history of a high dard of excellence in customer service and show quality, it is just deeply disappointing to see so many of these incidents over the past several months. There will always be some elements totally out of Disney's control, and nobody can fault them for that. My beef is that Disney lately is not doing a good enough job at handling the things in CAN control.

I am sorry to hear that, and I myself am wondering if it's worth planning another trip. I really hope Disney really starts paying attention to the guest experience and hope they aren't arrogant enough to think they can't fail. Everyone thought companies like Wal-Mart were "too big to fail", but it eventually happened. Profits are up, because of rising prices, but park attendance is not rising. That is a key stat. At some point, people have to ask themselves if the experience is worth it and sadly, I'm not sure anymore.

That is crazy. IMO, if they truly cared about the guest experience, they would open the boarding groups the night before (around 7 or 8 pm) to prevent people from having to line up that early, and have the groups be gone after 10 minutes. And even if you get there that early there are no guarantees you'll get a group, so what's the point? Even make it a lottery system, if possible, to be more fair. The ride looks good, but there is no way I would stand in that line. You are a trooper!

Yea it seems kind of ridiculous that you have to seek out a blue shirted guest experience team member to help you when the ap fails you. And just hope you get one that doesn't say, it takes a few minutes to add someone who tapped into the turnstile with you who doesn't show up on MDE. Real real helpful.:crazy2:
