We have just come back from a fab dcl holiday although our retrn trip was something out of plane trains and automobiles. Left DCL with sunshine in our hearts and arrived at orlando airport, we knew we had a wait as our flight was at 2.45pm (and we arrived at 10.30), but we shopped met some people who were on the cruise and time flew by, went to board the plane and there was a half hour delay, after a few minutes this jumped to a leaving time of 7.45pm:scared1: the reason for the delay was there were no staff for the flight!!!wouldnt mind too much but this was a connecting flight to Miami and our flight left at 8.00pm, AA put us on the next available flight which would get us into the airport for 7.15pm plenty of time we were told! We landed and ran through miami like souls possessed, got to the gate flight was delayed until 10.30pm, so we relaxed, got to 1100 and we started boarding, sat on the runway and waited and waited....took off at midnight the reason this time no pilot, they had to get one from Dallas! We then realised that we would probably miss our next flight from heathrow. We finally left the plane at 12.45pm our flight was leaving in 35 mins the AA rep at the plane gate told us we would make it, ran through heathrow, caught a bus, found ba rep told us we could make flight arrived at terminal 1 to find flight was cancelled!!!!!:scared1: Spoke to BA who told us to go back to BA/AA desk to be told there were no flight available until 5.45pm:headache: :headache: by this point i go ballastic and burst into tears. AA blamed BA and said they werent told of change, offered us later flight and a standby flight that was full!! No apology from either till i asked them for one!!! Finally got on standby flight and got to manchester to find they have lost all our bags!! Just spoke to them on phone...they have found 2 but the other one is lost:headache: Bet it is the one with the camcorder, all the gifts we got the boys, the dcl items that we bought, duty free booze and cigs:headache:
Moan about virgin---never again

What an absolute nightmare for you.

You're finally home safe and sound, I guess that's some small consolation.

Hope they find the missing case - poor you:hug:

That's ridiculous, if it was me I would have started crying once the delay had been announced!!

Poor you, I really hope you get your missing bag back.

Crikey Louise what a nightmare !!! i would be so mad  I hope your bag turns up x

How awful for you:scared1:

Hope your bag turns up, it has actually happend to us before we got ours back 3 days later. Good Luck:wizard: :wizard:

:) Well bags turned up today at 3.30 (so about 46hrs after us). One had been searched by TSA and searched is a term i would use with caution, we have had many searched before, the suitcase lining was ripped out and normally they re pack better than us but this time our stuff was thrown back in. 2 of our suitcases were that badly damaged that we are going to put in a claim. The one that tsa had searched was smashed in side, the front pocket zips were torn off. The second bag has had all four sides completly smashed and lots of our stuff was broken including a silver photo frame from dcl. Thank god for ziplock bags, most of our toiletries had burst. Trying to decide if they just dropped them out of the plane over man somewhere:confused3
But on the good side the vodka made it home:worship: How do i post pictures? Not too technically minded.

lawlesslovewdw - what a terrible experience! If it wasn't bad enough that all your flights were delayed/cancelled, when you finally received your luggage it seems like it's been dropped from a great height!

I would definately put a claim in. On our last trip to WDW (October 2006) we fly down to Gatwick and one of our cases was trashed - handle broken off and pull-along bit twisted and broken. :headache: I went straight to BA's desk and they sent for a new suitcase for me immediately! :) A friend of ours had their stroller damaged and again, they sent a cheque to cover the costs of a replacement to their home address. They do tend to do their best to sort these things out. ;)

I know the feeling of having to rush through an airport to catch a plane and then discover the flight is delayed because there isn't a crew available - that happened to us a few years ago with United in Chicago!

Funnily enough, it hasn't put me off of going back to WDW though! :rolleyes1

That is terrible, what an ordeal.

To post photos you need to upload them on to a site such as www.photobucket.com, it is really easy to use, then copy the code into your post.

tHIS IS AWFUL?:scared1: Did that not offer you any compensation for all the hassel you had?I would definatley claim for the cases and more.Such a lovely holiday spoilt by the ailine carriers. At least you got your cases back:worship:

Hope you get some comp.
My Brother always tries to fly upper class with Virgin, used BA last year but was diasappointed with their equivilent service, sent them an email to complain and they gave him 50,000 miles comp.
Hopefully you will get something out of them.

Glad you've got your bags back, even if they are in a state. Put that claim in!

We had a bag back in a real bad way after being searched by the TSA a few years ago. There's no way the damage done wasn't deliberate:sad2: - and they paid compensation with an apology; even they seemed shocked at the state of our stuff.

I have no problem whatsoever with them checking the contents of my bags. What I did object to was the fact there was no lock on, but they still bust the opening clasps; two tins of Bud my DH was bringing home looked like they'd been used as footballs, and then emptied the contents into the suitcase over new clothes, some of which were pressies for people. My toiletries bag was opened and all the contents throughout the case - including nailvarnishes out of the little zip lock bags I use for ALL bottles etc - bright pink nailvarnish on new clothes, photos etc.

I put a note in all of our suitcases now with a copy of the claim form and compensation letter and ask them to treat our property with respect:snooty:

What a terrible experience for you :sad2:

Sorry to hear about your experience! Hope everything turns out OK with your claim. :thumbsup2
We've always flown with Virgin, but this year we've done everything ourselves instead of through a travel agent. We saved £1500 at Easter to do that from the price quoted for Virgin and we're flying with US Airways to Philadelphia and then down to MCO. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have any problems as we'll have connecting flights - must have been a nightmare!

BA sent us 2 really nice suitcases to replace the ones they destroyed. They handle damaged items inside the case seperatly, thankfully we kept the receipts! Still wont fly with them in a hurry...would have to be huge price difference with virgin and fly direct to orlando!
