Never a studio again

MY DH & I will be staying in a SSR studio 6/28 - 7/6 & we are excited and thankful to be there...different strokes for different folks

I agree, I can live without the King bed, but I can't live without the washer/dryer for a week. I like clean towels everyday and I like to wash our clothes so we don't have to pack so much. It doesn't help when we've started out with a 2 bdrm at the Disney Institute. Studio are only for the 2 of us for a night or two if we're desparate.

Hope things are getting better for you Deb!

We stayed in the Disney Institute villas for years - first time in 1984. So we started out spoiled, too. When they closed down, we joined DVC.

We were slow learners when it came to joining DVC in 2005...since we're on the west coast we didn't think we'd get to WDW enough to make it worth it. Sure wish we made the plunge earlier.

We are fine in a studio. Our kids are little. I think when they get older we will upgrade to a bigger place. We did 8 nights in a studio, then 4 nights in a 1 BR in October. My husband's mom joined us for the last portion and my hubby wanted to stay in the studio. I had to draw the line somewhere.;)

I am booking a studio for 2 days after my cruise next year....oh the HORROR!:scared1: Not because its a studio, but because my teenager is going to be in there with us!:goodvibes As soon as the 7 mos. window opens, I'm gonna try for that 1 bdrm. at OKW! I'll have just enough points...lets pray I get it!:worship:

Studio at the VWL worked well for us. Me, DW, and our two kids, 5 & under.
I think as the kids get older we may go with the 1 bdrm.

Best wishes Deb for a speedy repair! So sorry to hear about your flood! That is the part of this thread that gave me chills.

We like the studios, it means 4 trips a year instead of 2 in a one-bedroom. Of course, there is nothing like having the space, king size bed, and whirlpool tub of a one-bedroom!

There truly is no comparison! I honestly thought once we went to a one-bedroom, we would never go back to a studio, but we did, and have been okay with it. It is a bit crowded with two kids, but they have no interest in spending much time in the room anyways!

Things are looking up and we are back in our house. No walls, no floors, but I have my king sized bed and my washer and dryer. Now we'll just have to wait for the adjuster's estimate and our contractor's estimate. And hope the President declares us a disaster area so we can recover some of our other costs not covered by the flood insurance.

And I have to find the last few years electric bills, so I can get reimbursed for all the electricity the demo guys used drying out the house and cutting out the sheetrock and paneling.

And disneynutz, thanks for the addition to the signature block. :thumbsup2

11 nights in four different hotels rooms was enough. But I now have enough points to stay in a hotel on the way down and back. So free (meaning won't have to pay any lodging bills) for the entire two week trip.

Wow, Deb. That is stuff I wouldn't have thought about needing!! You've just been flooded. Where do they propose you find these soggy documents? Will the electric company help?

Actually, the pack rat that I am about documentation, I just may be able to find those. I know I have the electronic payments listed on Microsoft Money.

We are so sorry to hear of you flood damage. Well wishes and prayers that God will grant you a speedy recovery and get you back into your house ASAP.

We can relate on the stay in a studio dilema. When the kids were young, it wasnt an issue. As they have gotten older, and we have enjoyed the 1 beds on those longer trips, w fianlly had to break down and buy that 4th contract that would allow us too stay 2 trips in a 1 bed. When they arent going anymore, we may try to revert back to the studios, but it may be hard then:faint:

:grouphug: for the continued flood recovery.

DH and I do fine in studios as long as there's a sofa to watch TV from. Like Caskbill, I don't like the OKW studios, but even we (point miser that I am) stayed in an OKW 1 br over President's week since the points were so low.
