Never a studio again

I could handle a studio for a couple of days, but for 6 days w/ 4 grown people, I couldn't do it. I see threads here about people that do it all of the time, I don't know how they do it. It reminds me too much of camping in a small trailer w/ 5 of my closest family members. :scared1: We had fun but I was 12!

I get up earlier than most, often wake up in the middle of the night and I have to have somewhere to go, not only for myself but not to bother any one else.

I admit my points would stetch out considerably if I did studios more often but I guess that's the beauty of DCC ownership, you can custom your stay to suit yourself and your needs.

I think for 2 people the studios are great. I could easily stay in a BWV studio with boardwalk view for a couple of weeks. We do not use the kitchen for meals, just snacks and the w&d in the laundry rooms are ok for a load or 2. Any more than 2 people in a studio, then I want a bigger villa.

I will never stay in a studio again. They are too much like the hotel rooms we have been staying in for the last 7 nights (at least four more to go) while our house is drying out from the flood.

I feel your pain. WE had our house flood last year as well. We stayed at Coronado Springs while our house dried and watched this evil video about something called DVC. "We'll look into it but that's about it." :lmao:

:lmao: I wish I were close enough to stay at CSR instead of these three hotels we've been in since last Tuesday. Might make the pain a little easier to bear. Plus I'd much rather spend the money I've spent on these hotels at WDW. Ahh, the plans I had for the economic stimulus check. :sad1: Thank goodness for flood insurance.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear about this. We were in a flood once. Filled the basement within 4 inches of the rafters. We had an inground pool. Yuck!! It didn't make it into the house. You are in our thoughts and prayers for a quick fix and clean up. Glad you are all ok.

I hope your repairs go smoothly, Deb!

I love the studios, but I've never actually shared one with anyone. When I bring guests down, we always do a Sun-Thurs stay in a two bedroom. When my cousin and her family joined me, we had an OKW 2BR for four people (3 adults, one tween). This fall, it's just me and my parents, but we're still getting a 2BR. Forget sharing a bedroom- I don't want to share a bathroom! No waiting my turn and rushing through a shower in a pre-steamed bathroom for me! I'm totally spoiled by living alone.

I don't mind a studio for short stays....3 nights and two people. More than that and we've graduated into at least a one bedroom. Next January we have a 2 bedroom, and I'm looking into a 2 bedroom for next December as well. But the studio's are fine when it's just two of us...as a matter of fact, they're perfect because they allow us to save points for those 2 bedroom trips :goodvibes

We'll do a studio for a very short stay (no more than 2 nights) but prefer the one bedroom. I like the room, the tub, the king size bed, and the washer/dryer option.

We perfer a one bedroom also. The girls stay in the bedroom with us. They are under 3 so one sleeps with us and the other in a pack in play. I like having a sepreate living space. We have never stayed in a studio. My parents used some of our points this year and stayed in a studio.

We didn't mind staying in a Studio until we stayed in a 1 bedroom. Had to add on points so we could always stay in a 1 bedroom!!! :thumbsup2

Hope your house repairs go well and they are done quickly for you!!

When we're at Disney we're so happy to feel warm sun that we're never in the room, so I would have a hard time giving up the points needed for a 1 bedroom for just the two of us. I would love the washer/dryer, though. Especially, with the direction the airlines are taking with the baggage fees.

Deb and Bill, a huge suite at the Ritz would not make me happy in your situation. Best of luck for speedy and well done repairs.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the flooding. However, in regards to a studio, if I am in Disney and there is just the two of us, I can handle a studio. But like others, as soon as you add in other folks, you need more space!

Sorry to hear about the flood ((hugs))

And sorry to hear your trapped for a while longer.

Arrg - you guys are making me nervous. We've never stayed in a studio for more than a night, but we're staying in one at BWV for 6 nights in September. It's our second trip this year and just the two of us. We had enough points left for this and we wanted to re-use the AP, DDE and golf cards before they expire. So instead of banking, we went for it. I hope we haven't muffed it.

Okay. Deep breath. It's WDW! It's the Boardwalk! How awful can it be? No W/D, no kitchen, no separate bedroom....but it's WDW! It's the Boardwalk!.......

DisFlan

I just got back from a studio stay at BWV (boardwalk view) for 5 nights, and it was delightful. Granted, it was just me, but IMO it would be great for two as well.

DH has already pointed out how the 1BR are twice as many points as a studio. I caught the undertone that he expects us to do a studio and expecting otherwise is high maintainence. Thing is he already got a small dose this past trip and our oldest DD is only 11 and not into makeup and hair. Just wait till she is in a couple of years and my youngest is right on her heels, LOL! He'll be begging for his own studio!

I made your new sig line for you.

Yes, yes, yes - I need - really need - my king sized bed. BUT I really need that separate shower, too and I will never stay in a studio again!

:rotfl2:

I'm with you on that one, Deb! We will only do a studio for an odd night here or there if we are arriving late or leaving late. And we are usually just 2 of us unless we have guests. If it's 2 of us it's a 1 bedroom. If it's 3 or more, it's a 2 bedroom unless it isn't available.

We do the exact same thing! One night in a 1br spoiled us rotten.

I agree, I can live without the King bed, but I can't live without the washer/dryer for a week. I like clean towels everyday and I like to wash our clothes so we don't have to pack so much. It doesn't help when we've started out with a 2 bdrm at the Disney Institute. Studio are only for the 2 of us for a night or two if we're desparate.

Hope things are getting better for you Deb!
