What is the best price for Netflix? Are there any special deals for new customers? Any concerns? How fast do movies come in?
TIA!!:goodvibes

Personally, I do the $15.99 plan which allows you 2 discs at a time with unlimited per month. I love the service and it is the only pay for service that I have kept through the past year.

I have had 1 bad disc so far, but they quickly sent me a replacement disc. It happens. Heck, you can get a bad disc when buying a brand new DVD so *shrug*.

I have a two day turn around on discs (except when a Sunday is involved obviously). If I mail back a disc on Monday I will have my next by Wednesday. But that's because I'm in a good area. I have a distribution center 1.5 hours away in one direction and one 2 hours away in the other.

Same here, I have 2 disks at a time but I only pay $13.99. If I mail old dvd monday, will get new on wednesday.

I think I pay the $13.99 a month for it, and I like it too. I live in a very small town and it takes for ever to get to a video store. so just to go to the PO and get my dvds is great. I have a two day turn around too. I got a two week free trial then started paying for it and we love it. I've had one incident where they sent me a disc that wasn't on my list. But I sent it back and they sent the new one right out. I like it.

Wow I wonder why some folks get it cheaper?! We pay around $16 for the 2 disks at a time unlimited - when we have it activated. Right now due to budget (had car repairs recently!) had to put it on hold for awhile.

We do love the service - and also have a really fast turn around.

Opps I forgot we have the 3 disks at a time unlimited and it's like $18 including tax as I recall.

We love netflix, our turn around is about 2 days for a disc. The real reason that we have netflix though is for the instant viewing. We cancelled cable to save a little extra money, bought a bluray player that had netflix streaming included and ordered their service. Now for $14 a month we can watch all kinds of movies and television shows, beats paying the $75 for cable.

Same here. Except we have a cable that connects our laptop directly to our tv as a second monitor. The kids have a desktop computer in their common room and they can watch there too.

We have the 3 disc at a time plan (it's $18 and change) and the watch instantly is unlimited. We put a movie in the mail monday and get another on wednesday. That's why we like to have the 3 movie plan because we send the back on alternate days.

You can set up multiple queues, so you can get a variety of movies. For example if you have the two disc plan you can set up one queue for the kids and one for the adults. When you send back the kids movie, you will get another movie from the kids queue.

I had netflix and cancelled, tried blockbuster too, but we just don't watch enough movies a month to warrant the expense.

Right now I use the Red Box. $1 a night movies with lots of free rental codes out there as well. NOt the biggest movie selection, but they have all the new releases :)

Well, we just got the free trial, and I chose the two movies a month. I allowed the kids to get one movie a month on Comcast for $4.99, so for the same price we get two.

I usually get all our movies from the library, they're free :), but you are going to have to wait. Sometimes it is a very, very long wait. So for now, we're going to stay w/ Netflix for a while and see how it works out.

lori

I'm on the 1 at time program $9.55/month including tax. I think there is also a $3.99 (?) plan-2 movies/month one at a time.

I love the fact that when I see an ad for a new movie being released to the theaters I can add it to my Netflix list and don't have worry about remembering when it's coming out on DVD.

As a techno illiterate, how "exactly" does this work. My DH is always talking about getting rid of the cable, but really, the cable channels are the only ones we ever watch.

If we could still watch our favorites and not have a cable bill, he would be thrilled!

What would we need? and what kind of programming would we get?

Ditto! We had the 2 at a time unlimited for $13.99 prior to taxes and we were members for several years until I found RedBox. Agree with PP that RedBox doesn't have the best selection, but all new movies are available and you can reserve them online too.

We recently quit Netflix. For some reason we were on a 5 day turn around so only able to view about 4 movies a month. Not worth the price. The instant veiw was really nice even though the movies are much older. DH hooked up our 55" TV to it, so it was great. Netflix would also never send us out a newly release movie until about a month after. My queue always said "long waits".

We have the 1 movie at a time, I think it's $7.99/mo and you also get the online movies. We watch those through the Xbox, but are looking for a Blu Ray player we can do that with as well. There is also a box you can buy for about $100 if you want to use that to watch the movies on your tv, but for that price, I'd just get a Blue Ray. (From my research, most Samsung, LG and Insignia (think that's it, at Best buy) are compatible).

Turn around time is great! I put a movie in our mailbox at home on Monday, Wed we have a new one. I think the post office scans them and lets Netflix know the received it, because I get an email at about 4am the next day saying they got it. I just don't see how it would be that fast otherwise. But, we like it! We do cancel on and off again when we get too busy, like in the summer, or just run out of new stuff we want to see. Then we'll just sign up again in a few months.

Thanks everyone!! We signed up for the FREE trial yesterday. The Kids were able to watch Bolt instantly. They loved it!! I will have to look into how to watch it on our TV.

We've had it for several years and pay $16.99 for 3 discs at a time, unlimited discs. The "Watch it Now" shows make it worthwhile for us because we do not own a tv so we watch all of our shows on netflix.

We get 2 disks at a time and have had it for a few years now. We have an adult que and a children's que. When DH is home we upgrade to three disks a month and use it to catch up on shows we didn't get to see when they were on air. I like having a separate que for DD, that way I don't buy nearly as many children's movies for her, we tend to vette them first to see if they're worth buying. We we horrible at remembering to return disks on time and Netflix has a much bigger selection than any local store so it works for us. You can suspend your account for up to 4 months (I think) at a time if you're moving or traveling also which is nice. DH is on the road a lot so he uses watches older movies on his laptop and he enjoys that feature. Our turn-around has almost always been less than 3 days so for us, it's a good deal.

Love Netflix. Gave up on Blockbuster after doing their online plan, but they kept chaning prices, changing rules, and we switched to Netflix and got unlimed movies per month, one at a time, for a dollar less per month. Now that we have a Bluray player we pay the extra $2 per month for blurays and get those instead - well worth it. We usually have a 2-3 day turn around but only watch a movie one or twice a week at most since we DVR so many shows from the TV, so we don't mind. Been quite happy with Netflix.

We were Netflicks customers until last May when we got Comcast. We got cable because our television isn't digital. We are planning to go back to Netflicks or maybe try Blockbuster online since we have Blockbuster store accounts. Comcast has proven to be a disappointment because their channels are dominated by reruns of network shows that have been in syndication on the networks for years and even decades.

Netflicks often doesn't have the newest releases because Blockbuster gets an exclusive on some new releases, but the selection at Netflicks is huge with a large variety. If you are informed that there will be a "long wait" for your selection on Netflicks and you don't want to wait, dollars to doughnuts it is available immediately at Blockbuster stores so there is no need to subscribe to both online services.
