Netflix

We LOVE Netflix!!! I love the fact that on the 2 movie plan we can split it into 2 queues - one for me, one for DH. that way when I return one of my movies, I get a new one from my queue. That helps to keep the peace in the house at times. ;) I would 100% say to get it.

Did not know this!!!!

That changes everything with respect to kids vs. adults in the house! DS is trying to catch up on ALL of the seasons of "24" and is a total queue hog.

We use blockbuster online. We love it. We've had it a couple years now. We can have 3 mailed movies out at a time, they also email coupons for in store use, and- this is new- we can now return the mailed movies to the store, and pick up a rental. Then, once they put the mailed movie in the mail, we get a new one sent from our queue. So we have instore rentals and mailed movies out at the same time. We never lack for something to watch! The instore rentals still have a return date, if its not back one week after the due date they charge you for the cost of the movie (refunded when returned). They call and send a post card before they charge you, so its not a big deal. We really like it, and the service has been great. We sometimes get movies so fast that I don't know how they can possibly do it so quick!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. This helped me greatly...especially the two movie plan for different viewing habits.

I've been using NF for over a year now and love it. I also tried BlockBuster, but they just pick and chose anything from my queue, did not go in order. I've heard about the new addition of being able to return your movie to the store (with BB), but that's the whole point of doing this online, to not go to a store.
NF has been great about sending out new releases. The sooner you add it to your queue it seems the better the chances are you'll get it right after being released.
Go try NF...they make it easy with the free trial.

CCT-

We've had Netflix since the inception of the online service (Mrs. Mugg & I hated the ritual of the hit-or-miss video store since day 1 and it was always a pain in the *** to hustle movies back), and I'll vouch for everything that been said here, especially the part about them replacing defective movies. I'd guestimate that we see a defective disc come our way about every six months or so (and one time when the wrong disc was in the envelope) and Netflix has taken care of it right away with no questions asked.

One added benefit of the service not previously mentioned;

We've turned on many friends and family to Netflix, and one of the rituals now whenever we visit those same family or friends is to pull up both our account and theirs on the computer and look at the list of previously viewed movies at both ends. This allows us to make recommendations to them based on what we really enjoyed and vice versa. We've been exposed to a lot of movies we never would have come across this way and vice versa (and there's the added benefit of knowing which movies to avoid based on our knowledge of the person recommending them! lol)

I'd say we have about 80-100 movies in our queue at any given time using this method, and more often that not we're rewarded. It also has the added benefit of being an immediate conversation topic whenever we visit or host...

FWIW; we obviously love Netflix; it's saved me the trouble (and expense) of subscribing to HBO since I know The Sopranos will be released on DVD. I've been greatly enjoying the 70's sitcom Soap as of late!

Hope this helps!

.

We had not had a huge problem with them sending things out of order. Only when something is not available. With the new addition you dont HAVE TO GO to the store- its an option that gives you extra rentals. We dont do movies online to avoid the store, we do it to save money. Its cut our rental bill down to about 1/3 of what it was. We were spending about $15 per week, now we spend about $20 per month.

I'm glad you don't get movies out of order very often. We did, we rarely got movies in order, which most of the time isn't a huge deal, unless you're looking forward to a movie for the weekend or something. I'm sure BB has their plusses, as does NF. I was just trying to pass along my experiences with both services. :)
