I'm thinking of talking my husband into dropping HBO and whatever other movie channels he has on our fios. Seems netflix will be chaper - how much do u pay a month for it and do u like it? Is it easy to use - i see u need to use it through the Wii or other game system.

thanx

We have had Netflix for several years now. We get 2 movies at a time through the mail for $14.90 (I think). We can also access online movies - either via computer, Wii, Tivo, or our DVD player. The online movie selections have gotten better, but you still won't get to see new movies this way. We mostly use it for kids movies and older movies. We get the new movies through the mail. We think it is worth it. We live fairly close to a distribution center, so ours come next day unless it is the weekend. We have been pretty lucky lately and can get just about any new movie in our queue.

we ve had it for a year now i think, we pay like 10$ a month and get umlimited movies..we do use it for the kids allot also..theres allot movies that are old but they ve never seen, like goonies, honey i shrunk the kids etc. we watch allot of the oldies but goodies when theres nothing on tv..we think its worth. we do still splurge on going to the theatre if its something we all wanna watch real bad..

We pay $15.99 a month to have two movies at a time, unlimited amount in a month. We watch two movies and it has paid for itself. I've never had any trouble with them.

You don't have to have to have a Wii. We just receive the movies through the mail and watch them on our DVD player. My son has my password and he watches movies online on his computer.

When you sign up for Netflix, you can start a movie queue to preselect movies. They will come to you in the order that you pick them. You can bump any movie to the top of your list. It will tell you if the movie is available or if there might be a short wait.

I also preselect movies that have just been released at the theaters. That way they automatically move into my queue once they are released on DVD.

I've had it for about 3 years now. One thing I do enjoy about 'flix, other than the massive list of old movies, is the foreign film selection. The list is extensive with a wide variety.

We've had Netflix for several years. I've cancelled them a few times but have gone back. We get one movie at a time for $9.95 (or thereabouts) but we can get as many as we can watch and get back to them for the month. I sometimes watch movies on my computer thru Netflix and as already said we occasionally watch them on the TV thru the Wii. There is no limit to the number watched thru the wii or the computer. It is about a two day turnaround. We are happy with it.

We have the 3-at-a-time out with unlimited streaming for $16.95. We've had them for 3 or 4 years. We've put our account on hold almost every summer since we never seem to have time to watch movies.

I love it for kid's movies. That way when my son is tired of a movie I can send it back. Also, we like that we can stream a lot of TV shows and movies through our Wii when we don't want to wait. We've found delivery of our movies to be quick. Just a couple day turn around.

All in all we've been very happy with them. :thumbsup2

We actually got rid of our satellite last year and only use Netflix.

We purchased a BluRay player that had Netflix capability, so all we need is our remote to access the 300+ movies and shows we have in our watch instantly queue. We used to have the 3 movies in the mail, but have dropped down to 2 because we find that we watch much more on the play instantly.

My parents and my brother use a PS3 to watch instantly on their TVs, but I know you have to insert a Netflix disc to access your queue. Another option would be to hook your laptop directly into your TV with a monitor cord. (We do this all the time for other things, but find it easiest for the kids to access Netflix through the BluRay.)

We do not miss the satellite at all. It's nice that you can find exactly what you're in the mood to watch instead of flipping through the channels and finding nothing of interest.

We've had it for a number of years and love it. We do the 1 movie at a time with unlimited streaming. Our blu-ray players can stream netflix as well as the wii, our tivos & laptops. In the old days before we had the tivos & blu-rays we'd hook the laptop to the tv so we could watch from our streaming list on the big screen. Now you can get a device that will stream for so cheap it's worth it to just leave it permanently hooked up. Though the streaming doesn't offer the newest titles, there is still a huge selection, many of which aren't that old. You can also watch a lot of tv series through streaming.

I had Netflix for years - I think I first signed up with them in 2003. We're not currently signed up, but I plan on getting it again since we just cancelled our cable.

There are different prices depending on how many movies you have out at a time - the website should list all the options. I think pretty much all the plans come with unlimited online streaming now, which is really great. As others have said they don't have the newest movies available to stream, but there are still a ton of options & a lot of TV shows as well.

I see you are in Staten Island - the turn-around time for your movies should be fast. One of their distribution centers is in Queens, I've had Netflix when I've lived in both Manhattan & Brooklyn and got movies within a day or two of sending them back.

We love it. We get one by mail and unlimited by wii. The kids use it every day (if they get TV time that day). We signed up through ebates.

I make all of our online purchases through there and you get a rebate check every so often. Usually it isn't much but netflix earned me $13 so that is pretty good.

We have had Netflix's for about a month now. I enjoy watching the movies on-line though most seem to be a little old. We are getting one movie at a time which is good for us since we don't have time to watch anymore than that at a time. We normally watch the movie the night we get it put it back in the box and have a new one in a day or 2. I don't know how well be able to do a movie nightly once we go back to school next week and our lifes speed way up(I'm only doing one activity a week right now and working 2 days a week but once I go back I'll be going to school 5 days a week, dancing 4 days, church 2 times a week, and working 2 days a week) I don't know when I will have time to watch movies but I'm sure the rest of the family will have time :)

Two things I found disappointing about Netflix....the most recent releases are available elsewhere before Netflix gets them (although I heard they just invested some large amount of money which may be for new releases), and I don't think they have enough available to watch immediately through the Wii, Playstation, etc. Again, older movies and TV shows, and just not a huge amount.

We just did a trial of Blockbuster's plan and I think they had more selection, although for us the movies took a day longer to arrive than Netflix.

You can do a free trial with both Blockbuster and Netflix. Try them both and see which you prefer.

I have had Blockbuster's by mail program for over a year now, and like it better than Netflix. The prices are comparable, and Blockbuster doesn't charge more for BluRays. The part I like most is that when you are done watching your mailed movie, you can take it to a store for a free rental there! I plan my mailings around Tuesday so can exchange it for a newly released movie, which I used to have to wait months for on Netflix. And they just added games to be mailed at no extra charge. I think it is a much better value, that is, if you have a Blockbuster store in your area, as many no longer do!

Just to clarify...Netflix has a lot of new movies and TV shows available for instant play.

Also, I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Blockbuster charges extra for their watch instantly part. Also considering the poor selection Blockbuster stores carry, I can't imagine their online equivalent to be very good either.

I would also be concerned about Blockbuster because they are not doing well financially and may not be around much longer.

We like Netflix, I like watching the streaming movies while on business trips at the hotel and they have improved the performance and selection quite a abit since last year.

The only thing I dont care for is the extra $2 a month for blue ray movies. We tried it for a few months but the selection was small and it took forever to get them, maybe they have improved that not sure. We are happy with just the DVD selections at this time.

Just signed up yesterday for the free trial after I discovered they released an app to stream live on our iphones. I am in LOVE!!!!!! It's $8.99 per month for one dvd and unlimited streaming. I will save a ton over iTunes. I've been buying old tv series to watch on my phone. This lets me have unlimited access to a ton of them for the flat fee.

We have been with Netflix for about a year and really like it. I use them for a lot of the older movies that are not being played on cable anymore, but I don't want to buy. The only thing I don't like is that I can never seem to get a new movie when it first comes out. Weeks, sometimes months, will go by before it becomes available....and by then I've probably bought it On Demand.

The fact that you can't stream new releases is due to the contracts with the movie distributers and the cable companies, etc. No fault of Netflix. The movie companies don't make the movies available to places like Netflix due to the contracts they have with the companies that offer On Demand services.

I've been a Netflix member since 2001 and love them. I stream movies through my Tivo...great selection of TV shows and the movies are getting better too.
