So if the kids know the account password, what's to stop them from going in and looking at the 4 digit pin I set up for mature content? Am I missing something?

Um, having a bad day? No need for the snark. My kids are teenagers, and can access different devices. With my Xfinity account, they have the password but cannot see the pin I set up in parental controls. Unlike Netflix, which I found out ALOT of people have a problem with.

Well, you asked if you were missing something. Not trying to be snarky, I'm guessing most parents who need to set a parental control just don't give their children the password. I'm confused what they would need a password for on Netflix? Once it's set up on a device you shouldn't need the password again unless you need to re-sign in for some strange reason or the password is changed, right? We don't ever need to sign into Netflix on any of our devices using a password. The only time I've ever needed it is when adding a device etc.

If they have the account password then I don't think there is much you can do. You can always see what they are watching via viewing history, but it's also entirely possible your children are trustworthy if their restrictions on content aren't too overbearing.

I didn't even know Netflix had those functions....the more you know.

You could keep the password from them but the truth is if they are teenagers it’s probably futile to use parental controls on Netflix. My teenage kids know how to find just about anything without Netflix or any other paid service.

Teenagers are going to watch what they want to watch. Dd16 is on season 3 of OITNB. As for passwords, my kids are constantly texting in our family text for the password. Netflix is on all of their devices, but they need it when they are out somewhere without it (like babysitting).

I agree. Personally, I think it's better to monitor and discuss what kids are watching rather than try to block everything. Talking about adult themes is better preparation for growing up than trying to hide things from them. It also creates and atmosphere of trust.

Not sure about the pin question, but you can view the viewing history to know what’s being watched, how long it’s being watched etc.

I wish Netflix would give more options, like being able to have a particular show not show up on a user profile. Their options seem pretty limited.
