Our cable co sent out letters a few weeks ago, letting us know they were doing this, and that a box was now required.

That's exactly what our letters said. Yet, it was not true. People who write these things don't even know what a QAM tuner is.

Well, it was true for us. Plugging in from the wall get's no channels whatsoever, so boxes are needed here.

No, they are changing the signals so you can no longer do that, that is why the OP is saying they now need a box for every TV.

I'd still try first it before starting something new if they want to save money.

They are in MN, so if it's Charter, like mine was, I know for a fact it doesn't work, I had Charter myself, and I have several friends in MN that are all having the same issue because they just changed it.

Just a heads up. If your an xbox live subscriber you can get 3 months of hulu plus for free.

You can look around for free xbox live months or find them cheap online. Hulu is $8 a month but you can find xbox live for as low as $6 a month. You only need live for 1 month to get the deal.

Netflix will automatically advance to the next episode where Hula does not. Also, you can watch all your favorite shows on their original programing channel except for stuff on FX, they want you to have a cable carrier. I have caught up on Big Bang Theory, Scandal, How to get away with Murder, Nashville, and CSI in the last three days by simply bringing up their website. I also watch Project Runway on lifetime for free. Many you have to wait 7 days after their original air date, but that is all right with me. I am just happy that I can watch my favorite shows from Jiamusi, China!

I would look into get chromecast and stream abc.com , nbc.com , cbs.com , usanetwork.com .

I look at these channels for free through the tv . We have digital cable box get everything. The other tvs have a box from the cable company that don't get on demand.

I look at hulu free and crackle myself .
