Ack, I'm about ready to quit going to the doctor because when you go for one thing then they find something else wrong with you! :headache:

I went this morning for my yearly physical/pap, and my 6-month diabetic checkup. After I was dressed and waiting for the nurse to bring my new prescriptions and the paper for my mammogram appointment, the doctor poked her head back into the room and said, "I'm also going to have you get a pelvic ultrasound when you go in for your mammogram."

She said normally you don't feel the ovaries when you're doing a pelvic exam, but she could feel my right ovary. :scared:

My periods have been eratic too, two of them last month. Yuck.

So, has anyone else had these problems and if so, how nervous should I be about it?

I'm trying not to worry, but...well, you know...

DD has had similar issues in the past.. It usually turns out to be a cyst - which resolves on it's own.. Only once did she require surgery (lap)..

Try not to worry.. I'm sure she's just being extra cautious..:goodvibes

I was sent for an ultrasound after my gyn appointment once. It was a cyst and was gone by the time I went for the ultrasound.

Good luck - I hope that yours is the same thing!

Same here. I had an endometrioma. I was TTC at the time, and it was probably a big factor (along with others) that were preventing us from conceiving, so I had laparoscopic surgery to remove it. Wasn't bad at all.

My mom has ovarian cysts that they do routine ultrasounds to just "keep an eye" on them, but so far they've been just that-- cysts.

Yup! I had the same thing. I guess my gyno could feel the lump in there. Went to have the pelvic ultrasound, and it was nothing. Probably the same for you!

Good luck!

I just had a dermoid cyst removed from my right ovary a month ago - they did a single incision laparoscopy and it was not bad at all. The type of cyst I had was not fluid-filled like most cyts that do resolve on their own, mine was a mass of tissue (benign) so it had to be sugically removed. It was about 7cm - like the size of a small peach, and I probably had it many, many years.

Try not to worry - I know it's hard not to, I know I worried A LOT! If it is a cyst they are VERY common, many resolve on their own and the ones that don't they can very quickly and easily remove. My surgery lasted less than an hour and I was home in about 4 hours! Took a few days to recover and get around well, but looking back now it was not bad at all.

Hope it all turns out well for you! :flower3:

Thanks, everyone. You have all helped to reduce my fears. :)

my doctor was able to feel a cyst on my ovaries, and i had to go for a pelvic ultrasound. they told me it was a cyst(which we already knew) and that it wasn't a big deal. most women get them at least once in their lifetime, sometimes they don't even notice it.

i noticed when i had mine tho. i was in a lot of pain back in December for a week straight, i thought i was having an appendix issue or something. and then for a few months during my period i had REALLY bad pain but lately it's been pretty good. they told me it probably dissolved itself.

I've had to have this test several times, thankfully it was nothing serious. Sending hugs and prayers that your US goes well and your fears are put to rest.
Keep the faith MIGrandma ^j^

I developed shingles in my late 40s. I certainly have no medical explanation, but I believe the virus disrupted my cycles, along with causing other nasty symptoms. I had bleeding that probably started after I ovulated that month and stopped when the next period started. But my Gyn wasn't sure. I guess I was still having some microscopic bleeding on exam.

Anyhow, he palpated a cyst on the left ovary. I had to have an ultrasound, that then discovered a smaller cyst also on the right ovary. Both spontaneously resolved and I never had any pain with either. Did I ever have them before this episode? Who knows. I did have to have an intrauterine biopsy that was negative. That hurt. The shingles resolved and so did the cysts.

ah, yes - be prepared to drink lots of water pre-test!

Try not to worry. Sounds like a common occurance.

I get an U/S every time I go to the gyn because a few years ago he felt something during my exam. Anyway, it was harmless cysts which I get now and then.

I also had a dermoid removed. Found during ultrasound. Removed laproscopically. Not to bad.
