Nervous about ME and Connection

I have used ME in the past and been very happy. But, this time I am flying US Airways and the first leg of my trip will be operated by America West. The connection from Charlotte is with US Air, but I am concerned about not getting my luggage. Anyone ever had a problem with lost luggage/ME not getting your luggage/connections, etc... ???

It doesn't matter what airline the luggage comes off of. As long as it has the yellow tags, it will be fine. Now, whether the airline looses the luggage, that's another story.

The good news is that if the airline delays the luggage, you dont need to wait around for it with DME. It'll get taken care of, just delayed.

Thanks Tyler. I'm just leary because last time I only had one cary-on and didn't use the luggage transportation part of DME. Just a little bit worried. But, glad to know there haven't been problems as long as the yellow tag is attached. I was overly cautious and put two yellow tags on each piece. They gave me four and I used them all!

Let's suppose the airline messes up your luggage connection, and your luggage doesn't get to Orlando International until some hours later on a later flight...

With Magical Express, Disney will still deliver the luggage to you. It will just be there later.

If you don't use the yellow tags and your doesn't appear at baggage claim, you'll have to wait in a line — usually a long line — at the airport to make arrangements for the airline to get your delayed luggage to your resort. That's a real pain.

In any case, bring a carry-on with anything you'll need the first day.

By the way, airlines generally do a very good job transferring luggage at hub airports like US Airways' Charlotte hub. My experience has been that airlines have more trouble transferring bags at connecting cities that aren't regular airline hubs; that's when I've had most of my baggage delays.

America West and USAirways have merged. The America West planes and USAirways planes will be in the same area so I wouldn't worry about it.
