I would like to hear some feedback have you had some bad or good neighbors so far on this trip i met some awesome people i had cart problems and some strangers took the time to go back to there site grab a rope and tow me back as it turns out they were only 3 sites away the next day they came over and helped me get my cart up and running by finding the problem and checking sites to see where i needed to go to get a battery seems the local sams have them in stock and they gave me the address and i put it in gps and was there and back in no time and up and running in no time seems the 800 loop has lots of very friendly people and have had multiple offers to come to hang out with many people .Don't get me wrong i have had some not as friendly time on past trips to fort but have to say most seem better than not so good the not so good are by far less then the good ones how about everyone else??????

When we were there our neighbors were all great (we had several). I think that has a lot to do with campers in general. It seems that they are always willing to go that extra mile to help out. In all of the years that we have been camping, we have only had one experience with some inconsiderate neighbors and they were obviously new to the whole camping scene (Brand new MH with temporary license and all other equipment came out of boxes brand new). With our guidance and that of other campers they have since met, I'm sure that they have figured it out by now or hopefully they have found a new way to vacation... ;)

I agree that most campers are friendly and helpful but as with everything...there is always bound to be a bad egg somewhere.

99% of our neighbors at the Fort have been friendly, pleasant and helpful.

One neighbor heard our smoke alarm beeping (battery was dying) and called the number on our door sticker to let us know (we were eating dinner at EP), then walked around the TT to make sure everything was ok and told us to take our time and he'd keep an eye on things. :goodvibes:

We've never had any truly "bad" neighbors, just a few things like...

Young kids racing around the site/road in a GC

MH with little dog that yapped nonstop ALL. DAY. LONG.

Popup that crated their dogs outside the camper at night - which lead to howling at 2am (presumably over some critter or another)

And not so much a direct neighbor issue, but we had an issue last year at the dog park when a family oblivioiusly watched their 2-3 year old daughter chase after my dogs and try and grab them as they were playing ball (DOH!)

There are entitled/annoying/rude/obnoxious people everywhere, but luckily it seems not a lot of them camp. :)

Both times we've been to the Fort, we've had great neighbors! The only issue we've ever had with neighbors, and it was not at the Fort, is when the parents don't watch their kids and we end up "babysitting" all day and into the night.:confused3 We've had this happen to us several times while camping at the beach.

We have always been blessed with good neighbors. We usually end up being camped close to someone from home. Funny how that works out.
The first time we were ever at the Fort we were parked next to a popup that housed Mom, Dad, 4 kids and 4 boxers. When they were at their site there was always someone crying or barking. However, at night they were surprisingly quiet. They actually pulled out the next day. I would not have called them bad neighbors. Kids will be kids and dogs bark. I give those parents alot of credit.

We've never been to FW yet, but we've never had bad *direct* neighbors at a campground yet.

There was an incident once where some people a few rows over from us had a pitbull that wasn't staked properly that got loosed and ran and attacked a 10 year old (or so) girl who was two pads away from us. DH and some other guys had to call the police, wrangle the dog, and then actually block the owner from pulling up stakes and leaving the park in his RV - he had the engine running and was trying to run everyone over before the cops arrived.

No one who saw that little girl get hurt was going to let him leave though. He didn't have papers for the dog so they had to put it down, and he ended up having to go to the police station. The girl had to go to the hospital.

DH was fit to be tied about that owner and spouted epithets about responsible pet ownership for days.

We've always been blessed with fairly good neighbors at the Fort. I think that the worst instance that we've had was last week when some kids decided to play flashlight tag on our site...while we were trying to eat. I asked them nicely to stay off of our site, and it was fine.

Course, there was the guy at the next site over who was usually drinking by 9am, but I don't think that makes him a bad neighbor (despite being loud)...perhaps he just needs to be introduced to other ways to quench his thirst. ;)

Hey, didn't I already apologize for that. Oh, wait, I haven't been there when you have, never mind.
Buddy's not a yipper anyway. He just has this thing against female dogs.

Cowboy beans aside, this is why I love camping. The kindness of "neighbors" at the Fort helps restore my faith in humanity. I work in psych with a lot of angry, beligerent people. I live in a city that at times seems to be filled with nothing but hostile, self absorbed people.

I wish I knew the name of the folks in the campsite next to me from our last visit. They were a hoot - even offered to let my kids use his kids' scooters, bikes, or anything else we needed - we didn't, but thought it was a kind and generous offer.

That was me. Sorry. I have gas.

That was tomfoolery and did not provide the OP any technical help like they would get at rv.net. You should be banned for life. Just IMHO, FWIW, STAT. Harumppp.

As i guess most people have had mostly good neighbors out of the last 11 camping trips to the fort the only problem we encountered was a group of boy scouts that ran between the loops one morning hearing some noise i opened my door to see a young boy looking back at me seems they were tenting in the loop behind me and their friends were across from me so they would cut through my site to get to the other site ok small boys weren't so bad but even the adults did it after some dirty looks and my dogs barking they got the hint but even thats not that bad i guess

Normally, the Fort is pretty cool... the *only* time we've had the slightest problem was during Mardi Gras a few years ago..... the Fort was filled with Mardi Gras escapees, and it was a loud, rowdy, profane, wild group on our loop... bad enough that we would have moved, had it not been so full. Tons of children, at least 4 vehicles per unit parked on the street, pads, anywhere they could park... CRAZY time.

But normally, it's wonderful, and we love it. :goodvibes

My favorite neighbor at the Fort was several years back. My D/W and I left the kids at home and had a grownup week, OUR neighbor was interested in our old pop up and came over to talk to me about it.He would ask about this and that or dose this give you any fits and what not.Well long story short he was a RV dealer and repair man. From that point on threw out the week every time we came out side he would appear to give me pointers on my PUP. He would follow us to the comfort station and the bus stop telling me how to fix this and that,Dont get me wrong he was a great guy and all but he was a little over the top.He even helped us pack up when it was time to go home! I think he hated to see us go and I hope whoever took our place picked up as many hours of RV education as we did!

We had a problem last year when two professional dog handlers moved in next to us with about 20 dogs between them. Well with the morning bark alarm along with all the the other times they left them out to bark we complained to the front desk and they moved us to another loop. Other than that our neighbors have been wonderful.

We've only had 2 bad encounters at FW... we were beside a large group that was very loud and doing lots of drinking.... now, I'm not complaining about that at all, we're all there to have fun and they were having fun, no problem. However, there was one man out of the entire group of 15 or so that would yell as loud as possible the F word and many others. Sadly, much of the group were small kids. Nothing like Daddy belting out the F bomb in a drunkin stuper... at Disney.

The only other one was a lady who walked her small dog in our loop, which wasn't a dog loop... which again, no problem there we saw many dogs and loved visting with them when they came by each day... however, this one lady would allow her small dog to poo on our site, right next to our Halloween lights where our bikes were parked and NOT clean it up... we could smell it while we sat at the picnic table. This happened 2 days when I finally approached her and asked her to please take her poo with her.

We did have one encounter at a state park in NC mountains... a man would walk around in his whitie tighties... cook breakfast, read, whatever. He was a very large, hairy man too. I found it quite entertaining... however, our 10 year DD was completely grossed out. :rotfl:
