Neighbor's bad Disney behavior

My neighbor was telling me about their recent WDW trip, and I had a few thoughts I thought my fellow Dis-ers would appreciate. First of all, they didn't do it right! No "game plan," which gives me a panic attack just thinking about.

Then she asked me if I wanted to buy a child's ticket at a discount. I asked why they had an extra. She said, "oh, no one ever asked for (3-year-old son's) ticket, so we just kept it." Ummm.... OK. You obviously KNEW he needed a ticket because you bought one for him.

Then she proceeds to tell me about her older kids wearing heelies the whole time. No, they're not allowed, but "only 3 or 4 people told them that, so we figured it was OK." What? I'm sure my mouth was hanging open at that point. I'm such a rule-follower. I can't imagine telling my kids to do something that "only" 3 or 4 employees said was against the rules.

When we were at TL last Sunday, the place was wall-to-wall. DD 22mos has a broken leg and could not get sand in it, so we tried hard to find a spot near a sidewalk that had a bit of shade so that she wouldn't get too sunburned.

Finally we found this tiny little corner near Tilly's that had nothing left but the small chairs, but was right next to (and sort of in the shade of) one of the roofed pavilions. I had DS helping me and we put 4 of the little chairs in two rows with the stroller in the middle (so that we could sit with our feet out of the sand), but we needed some space for our small cooler. One of the long lounges from the shelter was sticking out at the corner, so I say to DS, "I'm going to just scoot these peoples' chair just a llittle bit to make room (as I move it 6 inches or so.)" I notice a lady lying on a chaise in the sun on the other side of the triangular area seemed to give me a nasty look when I moved it, but she subsided when she saw it was only a couple of inches. I kind of wondered why she would care that someone else's lounge was moved a couple of inches, but I'm occupied with keeping sleeping baby out of the sun and sand, so I didn't think any more about it, just sat down in one of the little chairs to wait out DD's nap.

As I sat there I became aware of why the lady cared. It turned out that her family of six had staked out the entire shade pavilion and all of its furniture to store their cooler and beach towels, while they also saved 8 more lounges opposite the shelter in the sunshine so that they could tan. (they needed two extra lounges for their sunscreen, books and drinks, don't you know.) Not ONCE in the entire 7 hours that the park was open did anyone in that family so much as sit down under that shelter, but if we even leaned in that direction, they started complaining that we were in their space. THEIR space? A family of 6 people (none under the age of about 12) who took up 14 chaise lounges and an entire shade pavilion is complaining about lack of space?

I have incredibly rude neighbors, too.

1.) They called the COPS on us on Halloween because our dog was barking. WHILE HERS ARE OUT 7:O00 IN THE MORNING EVERYDAY BARKING THEIR HEADS OFF!


2.) Our one neighbor comes over and says how they want us to move, I mean, what the heck?

Gosh, don't get me started about neighbors, I have got a pretty large problem living right next to me

We have neighbors who think they are God's gift and are rude.
But, we have 2 sets of neighbors who are the greatest in the world. They
would do anything for my family and my kids at anytime.
I think he gives us challenges to let us appreciate the magic when we go to the world!

Don't get me started!

Our neighbors didn't like the SCHOOL BUS driving down our street to pick up our(& two others families') kids and threatened to sue the district which caved in and canceled the school bus. Of course...they didn't have any legal standing to actually sue, but WE had to hire a lawyer to prove it and got our school buses back after SIX MONTHS.

You know why they didn't like the school bus? It turned around at the end of our dead end street and the back up beepers woke them up We decided to move and did!

I like my neighbors.Most of the time. The ones I didn't care for moved.The only trouble I ever had was when we put our pool in.A few surrounding neighbors felt my pool and $8000. vinyl picket fence ruined the " lay of the land" . They preferred to have it look like a golf course( it isn't one and isn't even near one) Since then 5 other put pools in.They would get in a group and stare us down when we were in the yard...thank god they moved....Anyway, I love when people break rules ,and then flaunt it.What would she have done if her precious children on Heelies would have fallen and gotten hurt, or hurt someone else..my guess is it would have been Disneys fault.

My neighbor tells us we could have a nice yard if we didn't allow toys or the kids on our lawn, we should teach our dogs not to bark, I should replace my fence etc. He only speaks to us when we are sitting on our deck with company and then comments. My favorite is when he showed up Christmas Eve (a holiday I host for family and friends) with his two kids and says look under the tree and see if you can find a present with your name on it.

OP here-- Just wanted to add that I live in a great neighborhood and generally like this woman. I have no complaints about her as a neighbor, which is probably why her Disney comments were even more shocking to me. I know many, many people have it much worse than me.

Hmmm...I thought the post was about not knowing how to 'do' Disney??? :shrug:

That said...I live where I have only one visable neighbor and I like it.


Back on Topic though...Years ago my friend's were in Disney with us and their 4 year old was never asked for their admission ticket and none of us realized it until on the plane ride home!!!! Ooops! But that was back in the "not-knowing" years.

I have a solution to your neighborly problems...be like me and move to a quiet farm in rural MN so that your nearest neighbors are a mile away on either side. Best idea we ever had...besides having our DD!

My neighbors like to scream swear words at the top of their lungs at eachother. Including the mother to her 14 year old daughter calling her all kinds of names. The cops have been there so many times too because of fighting. I just don't understand some people.

My neighbors are the sweetest people, but one family used to exhibit bad Disney behavior too.

They would go to Florida a lot, because they have family there. For years, they would stay with various relatives, and maybe drive over to the Magic Kingdom for a day. MK was Disney World to them. They never visited any other park!!

They would usually have to drive at least 30 min. to get there and back at the end of the day. They usually went out of a sense of obligation, rather than because they wanted to go. They would not get there until around noon, and would not be able to stay all day.

Last year, they took their grandchildren for a week, stayed at Port Orleans and got the dining plan. They visited all of the parks, and came back raving about how wonderful the parks were! Such a difference, they said, staying on site and being able to get into the parks quickly.

That would've bothered me too. LOL... BUT about the ticket situation... Everyone wants something for nothing. (Even though they paid)

I work at Bath and Body Works. I've learned this lesson well over the last few Christmas seasons.

Heelies are sneakers with wheels on the bottom of the sole. They can quickly be "converted" into skates, and are NOT allowed in WDW parks.
