I live in an apartment. I noticed that some animal feces was on my neighbor's doormat late last night. I am sure it was left by one of the stray cats that hang around. I came out this morning and noticed that it had been placed on my doormat. I have dogs and can only assume that they think my dogs had done that to them. I am livid!!!!!!!!!! How could they assume that? :confused3 I always pick up after my dogs and would NEVER allow them to do something like that? Should I call the office and report that? Should I leave them a note? I have to do something because I am so angry about it. The question is....what would you do?

Go to the office and report them. Never take apartment neighbor issues into your own hands.

How can you be sure it was placed on your doorstep and not left there by the same stray cat that left it on their doorstep?

I would knock on their door and ask if they did it, then I would explain my dogs did not poop on their doorstep and it was probably a stray cat.

Wait a minute ... you saw it last night and assumed that the animal had actually pooped on the doormat, but now that you find it on your dorrmat, you assume that the neighbor put it there?

I think that you're missing something. The neighbor found it on their doormat first -- how are the odds that they thought that YOU put it there for some reason, and decided to give it back to you?

We know what happens when one ASSUMES...

Are you kidding me? I came out this morning and it was NOT on their doormat anymore...it was on mine? What should I assume then?

Could they have just cleaned their doormat and then the stray cat came back and did his "business" on your doormat? :confused3 ... just a thought ...

But, if your neighbor did it and it upsets you, than as others have said, I would report it to the apartment manager and let him/her address it ...

1...you should never ASSUME anything.

2....perhaps they cleaned up the poop and the cat returned and left a new present on your mat.

MANY possibilities. All a little unbelievable and preposterous.

Your neighbor jumped to a bad conclusion. You are also jumping to conclusions.

I have a pet. I can see how someone with no pets might assume that since I have pets that is the source of the poop. Although it would make me mad, it seems like a somewhat logical assumption to me. You are angry about the poop on your porch - imagine how angry a non-petlover would be! They probably didn't even stop to think, they just jumped to a bad conclusion and reacted.

Personally, I'd knock on their door and tell them someone put dog poop on your porch and ask if they've had any problems with that. It'd be kind of fun to see their reaction.;)

I would pick it up and the next time I see the neighbour, I would make some comment about how annoyed you are that someone's dog or cat is pooping on the porch.

Are you sure it was the same poo?

If somehow you're absolutely sure, I'd knock on their door and start off by saying, "I may be wrong, so please forgive me if I am..." and just ask them if they put the poo there. They'll probably say no, but either way, explain that you always pick up after your dog.

I understand all the replies. I guess I shouldn't assume that they placed it there. All I know is that it was the SAME poop that was on their doormat...at least I think it was. I would ask them but they don't speak English and now that I got it out of my system, maybe I will just ignore it unless it happens again. They seem like nice people so maybe I should not assume they did it. Maybe someone walking by did....who knows? Actually I feel better just venting.......:)

Sometimes just getting it out helps. :thumbsup2 In your shoes I'd let it go for now, and if it happens again, go to your land lord/apartment management at that point.

Was is swirled exactly the same? Same color? Same smell? How do you really know it was the same? Personally, I'ev never examined cat poop closely enough to notice any of its attributes. Kudos to you for being so detail oriented. :thumbsup2

Jeez.....I saw 3 pieces of poop last night. The same 3 pieces of poop were PLACED on my doormat....not thrown or anything. Anyone could have done it but figured they did thinking it was my dogs. I was a little shocked that's all. I picked up my mat when I saw it and threw it along with some leaves around the area out into the bushes. I didn't have to examine it thank you.

Can an animal produce a 3 piece poo only once in their lifetime and therefore any three-piece poo is only that same three-piece poo from that one deposit from that same animal. Can't the same animal produce a three-piece poo at another time? Can't another animal produce a three-piece poo?

Sorry - but three pieces of poo on the neighbors doormat and three pieces of poo on yours does not mean that they are the same three pieces of poo. Unless there was something uniquely identifying about this poo beside it being in three pieces, I don't think you can say for sure that it was the same poo.

And to claim that it was the same exact poo, yes, you would have to examine it other than counting the pieces.

I have 6 cats so I have a lot of poo expeirence.
