I know that the thread title is lame and misleading.......sorry....

Anyway, my husband and I are trying to make baby number 2 and are having difficulty. I wondered if it was harder the second time or am I just imagining it.

Also-does anyone know if those ovulation kits are worth it to buy?

I feel silly asking such personal questions-but I appreciate all your help and replys.

Sorry, I know how disappointing that is. Dh and I tried for 2.5 yrs to concieve baby #2, it's very frusrating. After a few losses we are 15 weeks pregnant.
I used the clearplan easy monitor. It "reads" the sticks that you urinate on. The device costs about $200 and the sticks cost about $45 a box, so it can get very expensive, that said, it did accurately predict when I ovulated.
Good luck and hang in there, it will happen!

hang in there!!!!

we're trying for baby number 1 and have been unsuccessful thus far. i've used the ovulation kits, and they work...just haven't been successful yet...

PS..you are not imagining that it is harder the second time around.....we conceive DD the first month we tried (much to Dh's dismay)!

 Sorry, I don't have any advice on the ovulation kits. But good luck on your efforts. Stay positive!!
:teeth:

I highly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It tells you a lot about your body and shows you how to chart your fertility signs. I charted and got pg the first month trying. I ended up having a miscarriage but then got pg again the 2nd cycle we tried.

I bought some inexpensive ovulation tests and pregnancy tests online - http://www.babywishes.homestead.com/HowToOrder.html

The tests are like $1 each.

How about the third time around?
We were PG with DD after 2 months. PG with #2 after 2 months and miscarried 10 weeks.

We were trying for pregnancy #3 and it got way to stressful for me. Just the waiting and the charting and the pressure that I put on myself. So we are now currently not "trying." If it happens it happens. :)

Good Luck! :)

This is the book I used when I was trying with my third, once I bought the book, it only took three cycles to get pregnant. Good luck to you!!!

Ditto!! Baby #2 took a little longer...Good luck, it will happen.....:)

It was much harder the second time for us. Which I found very hard to deal with since the first one came so easily and I was the root of the problem.

I used OPK and the clear plan monitor - it was worth it for us.

My DD #1 was concieved with clomid and ART, DD#2 is clomid only and a trip to Disneyland Paris :D

Wonderful book! I read it too. With the help of this book and Clear Plan Easy Fert monitor we did get pg with our last ds. Look on Ebay for the monitors. I think I paid about $130-$140 for mine and some actions had the monitor and book both. Good Luck!!

i:hug: to you as i know how depressing it is to see that you are not pg. It was with my third that i had the hardest time with. I finally just quit "trying" and had a if it happens it happens attitude. I think you get so stressed with trying that it is harder on your body to concieve. Best of luck to you and your dh.

I am right there with you - but its not even close to panic time for me yet. We have been trying for quite a few months. Our first pregnancy came about right after beginning to try so this is definately taking a little longer.

I don't think fertility monitors are worth the costs as you can accomplish the same thing with just making sure there is, and sorry to be crude, an effort being made once every two days. Sperm can live for 3-4 days so you are ensuring that you will be ready during ovulation. There are ovulation calendars on the Internet too that are easy to use and get you to within a few days of when you are ovulating.

Let me be the first to say that doing the above plan on number two is definately not easy as there is so much less "trying" time especially since we both work long hours. BUT we have decided that we need to at least make a true effort at this prior to going any routes of panic about not being able to conceive.

I know this is TMI, but before you shell out that kind of money - and I had no idea they cost that much - try, try, and try again. Hey, its fun!

Thanks to all the replys you guys!
You made my day a little brighter. I will look into that book, I love to read and I'm game for anything.
I guess I didn't realize that those ovulation kits were so expensive. I think I will just for lack of a better word go at it like rabbits. We are trying to have a little girl after Feb of next year so we have a little rooster. Chinese astrology. My MIL is Asian and heavy into that stuff.

You know what makes me mad? I heard on the radio about a couple who were ordered not to have any more children b/c they were all addicted to drugs and the women went and got pregnant. Why is it so easy for those types of people to get pregnant?

Just wanted to vent a little bit.

I lived with this for quite a few yrs
It took us a long time to get pregnant w/DS 12yrs ago
We tried for many yrs to get pregnant a 2nd time and were never successful
Good luck - it hurt alot when others were able to get pregnant easily and I never could.
Im thankful for DS every day of his life

It was more difficult for me to get pregnant the 2nd time, but not as difficult as it is for some. I hope the next test is positive for you.

Going thru it now too! Our DS turned 8 in March and we have been unsuccessful since then so are now asking for help from the Dr. I am on Clomid and have a second IUI scheduled this week.

I was talking to the nurse last week and she said they have sooo many patients who wait too long before seeking help. If you are under 35 and have been trying for a year go to the dr. Over 35 if nothing in six months go in. Make sure you find a dr. who will explain everything and is willing to run tests right away. It is not cheap for the ultrasounds, IUI's and drugs but we figure it will be worth it in the end. :D Wishing you magic baby dust!!!!
