Negative/Positive Experiences With Lesser Known Car Rental Agencies

I'm looking into renting a car from MCO for a few days prior to staying at POP. There are a few car rental agencies that I've not heard of (Fox, Sixt, Ace, E-Z, Advantage, etc.) that are cheaper than the more well known companies (Hertz, Alamo, Enterprise, etc.) , yet I'm hesitant to book with them. For those of you who have rented from these lesser known companies, I'd appreciate your experience.

Thanks!

A lot of these car rental companies are actually owned by the big car rental companies. Usually when you use them you get cars which are older with higher mileage and a less convenient rental location. I have rented from Fox (not at MCO) and wouldn't use them again, mainly because their rental location was so far from the airport (LAS) and I had to wait in line more than an hour to pick up the car.

Since I don't want to waste an hour or more in line and taking shuttles, I'm thinking I should book with a place at MCO.
