Needing HS Diploma at Job Fair

I looked up how my high school does it. $5 for one and $2 for any additional transcript ordered at the same time. Same day is $6. I suppose they can also be ordered and mailed in a sealed envelope if they insist. I remember when applying to grad schools, my application required sending a sealed, undisturbed envelope directly from the registrar. I'm not sure if employers need that level of detail.

Mine had to be mailed in a sealed envelope but I'm betting in this situation that would not be required since they just want you to walk on up with a diploma.

DS graduated 3 years ago, and they gave him a laminated card-sized copy of his diploma along with the one in the case.

Every employer or school has a different requirement for materials like transcripts or recommendations to reduce the chance of tampering. Some just want to see a document with an official seal. Many will request a sealed envelope. I’ve had to send in letters myself, but where they were sealed in provided envelopes with a signature across the envelope’s seal. I still have a copy of a transcript in a sealed envelope.

I have no idea where my high school and college B.S. diplomas are. There are still a few boxes from my parents' house that I haven't yet gone thru. Maybe they're there.

No job has ever asked to actually see my diplomas.

Prof of education is very common when hiring. A transcript should serve the same purpose.

I guess I had better stop by the high school and pick up DD's as they screwed up her middle name on her diploma - we thought they shortened it because her middle name is long, nope, somewhere along the line the school district dramatically shortened her middle name in error and that is what they used on her diploma.

I have never heard of it. I have had to supply a college transcript for a job before, but nothing from high school.

When I was an applicant investigator for law enforcement I had to see the original diploma or a sealed transcript that noted graduation. I could then make a copy and put it in the file with a note that I had viewed the original. I was audited by the state every couple of years and the file had better have that in it.

Maybe it is a State Gaming Commission requirement.

Nope, have never been asked for a diploma, but I do have both of mine from high school and college and know where they are (in a box in a closet with my yearbooks).

They used to do this at my high school decades ago. Two of my older siblings got them, but when I graduated they had stopped doing it.

I've yet to be asked for a physical copy of my college degree let alone my high school diploma. Strange.

I know right where both my High School and College Diplomas are.
Never been asked for either.
Never been asked for my Social Security Card, just had to provide the number.
I did have to prove citizenship or legal status, I use my Passport for that.
And I did have to show my Driver's License so they could add me to the company auto insurance police.

My kids are 27 and 31, and neither has been asked to show diplomas either.

But I think we all fall into the category where work experience is more important than a diploma.

I've never seen this first hand, but my wife finished high school in a place where graduating was something a good number never bothered with. In addition to the traditional diploma, they issued a credit card sized version to keep in your wallet.

The sort of place that people rent halls for their 8th grade graduation party and call a hs diploma their degree.

I've only needed mine once, when I transferred from community college to university. If you transfer more than X credits, you don't need it. I was transferring X-1, so I did. That is literally the only time in my entire life I've been asked for it. I've never been asked for my college degree either; when I was in IT I had a couple of interviews where I had to bring proof of my certifications, but never of my degree, and I didn't need it for my current position either.

Neither have I. I couldn't show my secondary school diploma, but my University degree in framed on our wall.

I was homeschooled. One of the co-ops I went to provided us with one when I graduated, but my parents never signed it. I guess, they would have to finally get around to it if I wanted to apply (I do still have it). I do have my college diploma ready to go if asked.

I think it’s kind of a sneaky way to find out people’s ages early in the interview process, but maybe I’m just cynical.
