Needing help...

Hi everyone! I am a graphic design student and my assignment is to find online forums(live chat, discussion board, and blog) and determine is the forum is asynchronous or synchronous. If there is anyone with any info about these forums that may help me with this assignment I would be grateful. Also, if there are any comments about this forum you would like to share that would be great! This forum looks real interesting and I think it may help with my education and future career.

Since I had no idea what asynchronous or synchronous was I looked it up:

Not synchronized; that is, not occurring at predetermined or regular intervals. The term asynchronous is usually used to describe communications in which data can be transmitted intermittently rather than in a steady stream. For example, a telephone conversation is asynchronous because both parties can talk whenever they like. If the communication were synchronous, each party would be required to wait a specified interval before speaking.
The difficulty with asynchronous communications is that the receiver must have a way to distinguish between valid data and noise. In computer communications, this is usually accomplished through a special start bit and stop bit at the beginning and end of each piece of data. For this reason, asynchronous communication is sometimes called start-stop transmission.

Most communications between computers and devices are asynchronous


So....what is this forum? I would say on one hand it's asynchronous since you really don't have to wait for a specific post before you post but on the other it's synchronous because it's a print conversation so obviously you have to wait for someone else to print something before you can respond. Good luck...sounds like an interesting assignment.
