I am thinking because Corey and Julie are from the NOLA area there might be other cajuns hanging out on this board and I need your help.

Years ago I went to a friend's house who was cajun (I live beside the LA border on the Texas side). For dinner she served shrimp that have been cooked in the oven in a pyrex casserole dish. It appeared that the shrimp were cooked in some kind of sauce that included at least 1 stick of butter. She served the shrimp with a baguette to sop up the sauce.

Are any of you cajuns out there familar with this recipe and willing to share it? My daughter wants to have a cajun night and watch Princess and the Frog. She has been going to art camp this week themed around LA. I thought this dish would be a fun way to end the week (as long as she doesn't start wearing purple and gold we are good! DH is a Bama fan. Roll Tide!).

Sounds like BBQ Shrimp. (note: BBQ Shrimp have no bbq sauce and don't go on a grill of any kind)

It is cooked in the oven with lots of butter, cracked pepper, worcestershire sauce and some other spices.

The dish was invented at Pacal's Manale Restaurant in New Orleans. Technically it is a creole dish not cajun.

Here is a recipe and make sure you have lots of crusty french bread to sop up the sauce.

That's it! I had forgotten but now I remember she did call it BBQ shrimp. I remember her talking about BBQ shrimp for dinner all the while I was eyeing the cold grill in confusion!

Thanks for the explanation. My daughter will love this recipe for our Lousiana night.
