Pregnant with our first, a girl and we are having a hard time coming up with a name we agree upon. So I thought you all may have some good suggestions.

Here is what we know:
-Our baby is a girl.
-We will use the middle name Ruth
-We like common spellings (no extra letters or "i" instead of "y")
-We are open it does not have to be traditional, but don't want a "crazy" name. (in other words something that will prevent her from getting a job when she is older or put her on a government watch list)

So that is what we know...give it your best shot

What would you name our little girl?

**We never had this many problems naming the cats??**

Samantha Ruth
Madeline Ruth
Nicole Ruth
Kirsten Ruth
Sara(h) Ruth
Alyssa Ruth
Judy Ruth

i think ruth is a harder middle name to work with. what's the reason for Ruth?

I never got to use Charlotte. Most of our children have traditional names, appropriate to be on a CEO's door, and ones they can carry if they turn out to be total geeks (so far, not an issue). I'm also not fond of nicknames as first names (Abby, Liam, Kate..). Some names I find overused these days are Olivia, Ava, Isabella, Sophia, Jenna, and Emily.

Ruth was my grandmother's name, but I don't like it for a first name in USA, people pronounce it too harsh. Rue-tha

My grandmother was from Sweden where it was pronounced "Ru-ta" which is more appealing to my ears--so it will only be a middle name since we live in USA.

Please remember what the initials will look like, as well as how the full name sounds. I have a relative ( female) whose middle name begins with R but whose first name begins with M. She is sick and tired of people thinking she is Mr.... because of the way it looks on mail.
Also think carefully about using a forename starting with A if your last name starts with S (kids and adults can be cruel ..and inventive!)

Thank you for thinking ahead! Some names are cute for babies through the teen years. On a resume however, they don't sound very professional. I'm partial to traditional names like most of those mentioned so far.

I like Charlotte Ruth, and Charlie is a cute nickname.

ETA I realize you don't want anything crazy, but by the time your dd is older, the now popular names will fit that age group.

I am due in June and if we have a girl she will be Charlotte Maria!

Other reccomended names: Vivian, Leah,Tessa, Cara, Cora, Natalie, Vanessa, Adelaide, Audrey, Hannah, Laila, Cassandra, Amelia,

One person on my pregnancy board is threatening to name her kid (not sure on middle name, gotta dig up thread) Pixie Bean Juliette and wants to call her 'PB&J'. Everyone tried to convince her the kid wouldn't make it out of kindergarten without serious self esteem issues.
