My Disney family and I are leaving for DW on 10-6. We are planning on running the Race For The Taste 10K on 10-8. DH40, me DW38, DD13 and DS11 were going to do this as a family. I sprained/injured my big toe really bad this weekend (didn't go in...probably should...very swollen...but don't want bad news). Anyone have experience with an injury one month before race? I just want to finish, don't need to be fast. I'll probably call my doc tomorrow. I'm just really sad and needed to vent. Thanks for reading!!! Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Amy, I don't have any advice since I'm new to all of this. However, I'll be glad to send some :wizard: and some prayers for a speedy recovery your way.

Here's hoping your doctor will give you the thumbs up for your October run. :wizard:

So sorry to hear about your injury!!

My advice, first and foremost, is to see a doctor! Better to know what you're dealing with so you don't unnecessarily aggravate the injury.

In the meantime, I would suggest going to your drugstore and buying some medical adhesive tape and taping/wrapping your big toe with your next toe. That will basically serve as a makeshift cast.

For pain, take some ibuprofen and for swelling, use ice! Finally, and perhaps most important of all, stay off it! The best way to heal a foot/toe injury is to rest it.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and the very best of luck on your race!

That totally sucks!!! I have nothing to add to MarathonMickey's wise advice and that ice is good it's the one thing I typically don't do so don't be me and DO IT! Stay off it and see your doctor.

And I'm sending :wizard: your way too. Let us know what the doc says.

I agree with marathonmickey. Ihope you went to dr. today and if so received good news. If you did not go to dr. you need to stay off your feet as much as possible. Take a few days off, it will not affect your fitness that much, if at all. Good luck! :goodvibes
