We are going on a cruise in September. We are spending the night before we go at AKV. Our plane is supposed to get into MCO at 7:30 PM. We will be taking ME to AKV. We would like to eat somewhere that night. Since we are staying at AKV and we will have no children with us, we thought we might eat at Jiko. They are open until 10:00.

I called last night (WDW Dine) to ask them if Jiko had a cancellation policy (meaning will you get charged for it like you will CRT, etc.). She said yes. I said I was hesitant to make ADR there because of uncertainity of traveling times. I asked if we knew our plane would be late, if I could call around 5 PM and cancel (that night). She said as long as I cancelled I wouldn't get charged.

What are your opinions? Is < 2 1/2 hours cutting it too close? Where would you eat? We don't want to eat at airport and would like to take advantage of being at WDW with no children.

Interesting.......maybe I missed the memo, but I did not realize that Jiko now takes a cc to confirm a reservation and will charge you if you cannot make the meal. Am I the only one who did not realize this?

I went to Animal Kingdom dining on the Dis to read to see what your options are and saw that Mara is open late..

We were just there and Jiko did not have a cancellation policy. I'd call again.

We're dining at Jiko on March 27, and made our reservations at the beginning of February.

They did not take a credit card to confirm this reservation, so if it's changed, it's a brand new change.

I think your plan is a good one - make the reservation and if your plane is delayed, call to cancel or reschedule.

I am a worrier so I wouldn't want to worry during my entire travel time. Last year I made a reservation for the first night about 2 hours after we arrived, but later changed it because I did not want to miss it - and we were going during the ever busy spring break time. Our plane ended up being about an hour and a half late, and it took us awhile to get to the Contemporary from CSR. I would try to move your reservation time if they are going to charge it, or just for peace of mind.

I'd call and make the late ADR. If they ask for the cc, explain your situation and ask about cancelling late. I do not believe they'll ask for a cc. While we haven't eaten there since August, they did not have a cc cancellation policy then.

Jiko sounds like it would be most convenient for dinner and it's a wonderful choice just because it's delicious! It's a must do every trip and I always have to get their signature dish, the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon! I'm starting to crave it even as I type. I'd stick with that ADR, and I have yet to hear about a cancellation policy at Jiko.

I got my reservation today for 9:40. That will give us 2 hours. We will see if we make it. And no, they do not have a cancellation policy. I guess I just invented that because it is a 2 DDP credit restaurant. However, when I called a few days ago to ask about it, the CM seemed to act like it did. Not the case.
