We are going to DW 12/7-12/12. I could really use your help on the following questions........

1) We have stayed @ the All-Star Sports(2004) and liked it, but we thought we would try one of the other value hotels for this trip. Are two choices are, All-Star Movie or Pop-Century. Any input?
2) How is the weather in December?
3) How are the crowds? When we went last November (9th-13th) low #'s, it was great! But that is no longer value time.
4)If you know of any discounts, please let me know. With a family of 5 every penny counts!

Thanks! :earsboy: :earsgirl: pirate: :earboy2: princess:

Last time we went in Dec. crowds were great. No long waits for anything. As for the weather it's by chance. Mostly the days are nice. we wore shorts during the day but DD (2 at the time) wore pants during some days. As for the night bring your sweatshirts and pants. I remember one evening we were at DTD and DH had to take DD back to the room becuase it was to cold out! It is a nice time to visit. Have a great trip.

Thank you! We don't mind cooler weather so it sounds like December will be the right time of year for us! Enjoy the day

I would recommend Pop Century. We stayed there last year in the 90's building and loved it. I've never stayed at All-Stars, so I don't know how it compares. We had a short walk to the main building/food court, but had a pool right outside our door. I hope this helps! Have a great time!

if you have the time, read thru the "groovy pop century" thread... it has some great info... i would highly recommend it... we loved it :)

Another vote for Pop. We stayed there last September and LOVED it. Everything from the decor to the transportation made for a wonderful stay. Good luck. :flower:

I've never been to pop but we loved All Star Movies. I'm not sure the ages of your children but we had 3 with us ages 11,13, and 2. They all absolutely loved it. The older ones really loved the pools and my youngest really loved the oversized dalmations and toy story characters. We stayed in the dalmation building and the food court was just a hop, skip, and jump away. I poled the kids and this is where they want to stay again on our next visit. We did visit sports and music on our trip and movies was my favorite of those 3 but I did not get to see pop. Good luck with your choice.

All Star Movies.

I am 55 year old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of Disney's Magic and that is where I want to be.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
All Star Movies has pop up fountains now also.

The buses are wonderful.
Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses------------Pop buses
MK 20 min---------------MK 25 min
Epcot 10 min------------Epcot 20 min
MGM 10 min--------------MGM 15 min
AK 10 min----------------AK 15 min
DTD 15 min---------------DTD 20 min

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus at POP.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING:

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!
