I am needing all you bright and creative DIS'ers to give me thoughts and ideas as to what Disney/cruise related items and knick-knacks I can use as 'clues' for a TREASURE HUNT that I am doing for my 9 yr old DS. Since he has no idea I have booked a DCL cruise for both DH and DS for Christmas, I thought I would tell him by way of a treasure hunt, as this is his favorite game! I am looking for about 10 clues and here's what I have so far: Mickey Mouse Lanyard, Green Mickey Mouse Head Door Magnet (Home Depot style), pack of LIFESAVERS (get it!!), Disney Photo Album, Bubbles (for the send off), Disney Fanny Pack, Disposable camera.........?????
The 'clues' will be accompanied by a written note to lead him to the next spot, with the last 'clue' taking him to the mailbox where I will have a POSTCARD from Lilo & Stitch (Thanks Verandah Man!)waiting for him! Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated!

hmmm....how about swim trunks, sun blocker, goggles, or snorkle gear, captains hat, toy boat, disney beach towel....

have fun:wave:

sailors hat and pirate gear along with tropical prints ,beach sand or pictures of the ocean. There is a map of the route the ship takes on Dave's site. You could burn the edges and make it look like a treasure map.

Good luck and enjoy

I just knew you guys would come up with great ideas!! Thanks so much! I think I am having as much fun planning the treasure hunt as I did booking the cruise! You guys are the best!!
PS: Anyone have the link to Dave's website??

Hi NZ KIWI,

I'm doing the same thing on xmas day for my dds (ages 5 and 7)! I like your ideas for clues. Your DS is going to love it.

My mom did a little treasure hunt for them during a birthday party and we found that they tore through the house so fast that it seemed to be over in minutes! (It was a series of written clues indicating where to look next.)

So this time, I'm going to make it last... ;)

I haven't spent too much time thinking about it yet, but each step would be unique and it would take them a bit of time to figure out where to go next. One idea was to buy a puzzle that they would have to put together to read the next clue that I had written on it; another idea was to do a secret code using cruise, Disney or xmas symbols for each letter of the alphabet to write one of the messages; riddles about where to look next; etc

I hadn't even thought of giving them anything along the way...but I'm sure they will enjoy that much more! I was going to have a trunk at the end with some things in it like, snorkel sets, mini mouse in tropical outfits, cruise video...

:hyper:

Hi Disneywithkids!

Thanks for your reply... You have great ideas too! I have a small cigar box I am going to make into a Pirate themed Treasure Chest and will put a Mock Disney Boarding Pass in there, along with the Postacrd from Lilo and Stitch inviting my DS on the Wonder. He will go nuts!
Every Easter we lay out an elaborate treasure hunt that always leads him to his Easter Basket.... he will request treasure hunts at any given opportunity now!!
I especially liked your idea of putting togeher a puzzle or developing a secrest sode...... I think I might use one of those suggestions for the last clue... just to keep the suspense going for as long as possible!
Good luck with your Christmas Day hunt.... and thanks again!

Hi Bratray,

Thanks for the link to Dave's website..... can't wait to visit it!
I have enjoyed reading all of the neat ideas that have been shared, and have decided to put all the 'Disney related' items in the Treasure Chest, with the Postcard from Lilo and Stitch, and baording pass buried at the bottom! I think if I can come up with some clever written clues, or the great puzzle and code ideas that disneywithkids suggested, that should do the trick!
Be sure to keep this idea up your sleeve for your son... and use it for your next cruise! pirate:
