We are going on vacation the 2nd week of Feb and I am trying to talk my husband into going to DL. He loves DW and infact we are DVC members but he will not think about go to DL much less CA. What are some things I can tell him that will help change his mind.

Another things is the would be kind of a budget trip. So where could we stay? There are 6 of us all together. It will be me my dh,dd-17,ds-9 and 2 exchange students 15-16. We are only looking to stay a few days but at least my exchange students could say they went to DL for winter break. My exchange student will be going with us this summer to DW before her & my daughter fly to Brazil. And then when she gets back we have all the sr pictures and everything else that goes with one graduating high school. We already have her Disney cruise booked for June 06 so our budget it is a little small. So you see this is got to be a budget trip. I figure we could do DL & CA in 2 day and maybe take in US while we are there.

Any help in talking my husband into this would be great. He is looking at the $$ that it will take to go. Give me so of your budget ideas to pass along to him.

Thanks,
Shannon

<font color=navy>I have a lot of fond memories of our exchange student, my German sister, who lived with us for a year. We would celebrate her arrival anniversary every year, and those memories were so special to her & her parents. I'm sure your students' families will also appreciate it. :)

You can get a suite at the Best Western Raffles for a pretty good price. You'd need to get the ART shuttle, but that would only be $9 per person 10+ for your entire stay. Raffles also offers a very simple continental breakfast, but that would cut down on meals at the park. The Ramada Maingate Saga Inn is considered an economy property, and is within easy walking distance from the parks. If you want to budget a bit more, then Carousel Inn & Suites is a very good deal with continental breakfast - right across the street. The Best Western Park Place Inn is very popular & has mini suites you can get. They offer deluxe continental breakfast, plus they are probably the closest hotel to the parks' entrances.

There is a special going on right now when you buy hoppers (not at the parks), where you get adult tickets for the price of kids tickets, or if you have children travelling w/you (3-9), they get in for free -- Disney will give you the better deal for your party. So, you can save money there.

There are lots of less expensive places to stay right at Disneyland that don't have Disney prices. See this map.

The Best Western Park Place in and Minit suites have rooms with two queen beds and a pull out sofa. Rates go from $79 - $119 depending on the time of year. Other places that have rooms for 6 are...
The Desert Inn and Suites
The Desrt Palm Inn and Suites
The Portofino Inn and Suites.
Check Expedia and Orbitz for prices.
Tell your husband that WDW is great but so is Disneyland. Everything is all right there with in walking distance. Disneyland is very beautiful and full of rides that are not at WDW.

If your DH loves WDW, then he should really give DL a chance. After all, this was the original park...Walt literally walked down Main Street and he had an apartment above the fire station (the light's still on!).

Yes, it's a smaller place, but the fact that you can walk from DL to DCA to DD also makes it exciting!

At DL, some of the attraction are better (IASW and POTC) and DL also has attractions you can't find at WDW (Matterhorn, Mr. Toad...)

We're planning our second trip to DL in May (we've been to WDW 8 times), because this is a very special year...the 50th anniversary!

My fingers are crossed for you that you can change his mind!

Amy :D

Thanks all for the help.....Now another question is how much do you think I would need for this trip. I was thinking of maybe getting the city park thing. I can remember what it is called. Also how hard would it be to just get a hotel room when we get there. If some of you can tell me how much you normally spend then I can try to figure out a budget for this trip. I really want to go so I have to have numbers to show him.

Thanks,
Shannon

Hopefully you will get to go to Disneyland- I just went there for the first time after visiting Disney World many times, and I loved it there (and I will admit I was afraid I would be disappointed but definitely was not!).
