We are going to Disney World next Feb 1-11. My parents are taking me, my husband and my two children, and of course my parents. We are staying at the Shades of Green since DH is in the Army. Anway, I would like to do something nice for my parents while we are there. They never go out of the house when they are home. This is their first vacation in 25 years. I thought it would be nice if they would take a night and go out to dinner alone. My question is, where should I send them, and can I get a gift certificate at a restaurant, or do they take Disney ones? My dad only eats seafood and vegetarian stuff and my mom is not a picky eater. We are going to do character meals with them, and go to Tony;s Town Square, and Cinderellas castle together, what is a nice restaurant to send them too? I know they won't like Victoria & Alberts, they don't think it is worth the money for them. I was thinking California Grill? I don't know, I need your opinions please!!

Your best bet for how to pay for the meal is Disney Dollars - or if you're staying on site, they could just put it on the room charge (which you could pay later).

Re the location, California Grill is excellent(!!!), as are Artist Point and Citrico's. I'm sure someone will chime in soon with a Flying Fish recommendation, but I don't like the place and will not change my mind about that, no matter how many rave reviews I read. ;)

I was thinking California Grill too. I have never eaten there but all the reviews are positive.

My only reservation about the California Grill is that it's kind of loud - certainly not character dinner loud, but not typical fancy-schmancy restaurant quiet either. Definitely not a deal-breaker, but just something to be aware of.

For the best seafood selection near CR I would pick Narcoosee's. California Grill has great food but not as much seafood...great sushi according to my husband. If they pick there, the wine room is so much quieter. We waited for a table in there last time we dined at CG.

Perhaps you could print out the menus sans prices and let them choose what appeals to them most.

california grill is an excellent choice. another excellent choice is jiko at AKL. have you looked at the menus for these two restaurants? we have dined at both. the salmon at jiko's is excellent; so, that might be a good choice for your dad. my husband enjoys the beef filet and macaroni and cheese. http://www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm

I second the vote for Narcoosees!~ The food is great, and there are plenty of seafood options. Call and let them know this is a special dinner for your parents and put in a request for a window seat overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon, with a view of the MK. It is quite magical.

We enjoy eating there when they 1st open at 5:30, before it gets crowded, and while getting a window seat is more likely. Then when they are done, they can stroll the grounds and as a special bonus, they can sit in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, and listen to the live combo playing music from the 40's.

Hope you have a wonderful time:)
