Need your advice

Hi,
I could use some advice.
We have rented points for a stay August 19th for 7 nights (313 points) and will be staying at BWV in a 2 bedroom unit. The owner I have rented from has been great and has offered to help us reschedule if the August trip does not happen, the points will expire May 2021. If the August trip does not happen the only other option for us will be March break before the points expire (kids are in school).

My concern is if we wait for August and the trip doesn't happen I am concerned we will not be able to secure a 2 bedroom at another resort as we will be within 7 months and reservations will be filling up fast.
So my question is should I give up the BWV reservation in August and secure a 2 bedroom now at 11 months at SSR? We have stayed at SSR before and it definitely isn't our favorite resort and we were really looking fwd to BWV area.

What are your thoughts? Do you thing we would be able to book a resort at 7 months out in August for a March 2021 trip or should I lock in SSR now?

I think that 2BR’s would still be available, but, in March depending on the week (and what resort) it may cost more points. Also, you’ll need to remain flexible in regards to what resort.You’ll likely know if August isn’t happening in July.

We love BWV, although we are only stayed in a studio and 1 bedroom. A two bedroom would be amazing! SSR isn't a favorite of ours either. The only advice I could give is how comfortable do you feel going in August? If you are worried it won't be open, yes that is a chance right now that it won't...but more so that it will be open but not fully operational yet. Any chance to pull kids out of school for more availability at the 7 month window? If not, and you personally are okay with things not being completely open then go ahead and do the August trip. If you are having doubts about being scared due to health I would reschedule to March and try for a different resort, but accept it may be SSR. Either way you all will be at Disney! It's going to be an amazing holiday and escape after all of this. Wishing you lots of luck for a fun and safe/ healthy trip.

BWV 2BR villas are all lockoff. That means that they are actually a 1BR + a studio with a connecting door. The studios book up fast and Spring Break is a much more popular time than August is. Standard views are already gone for early March (11 months from now) and the other views will undoubtedly disappear not longer afterward. You will also need more points in March than you needed for August.

I’m sure that some resorts will have 2BRs available at 7 months. It just won’t be BWV because it lacks any dedicated 2BRs. Most owners will book their home resort at 11 months and then try for another resort at 7 months. Perhaps the owner that you rented from might be willing to book SSR for you and then attempt a switch at 7 months. But you would have to be satisfied with SSR if the switch isn’t possible.

We have a trip in August too that I’m seriously considering canceling (booked on our DVC points). If it were me I’d move to SSR in March. I don’t care for SSR either, so I’d request to move to either Kidani (the 2 bedroom has 3 full baths) or OKW. They usually have more availability than other resorts at 7 months out. I prefer both of those resorts to SSR.

Thank you all for the advice. It is a nice distraction from the news. I think I will lock in SSR for March and hopefully be able to move somewhere else at 7 months.
