OK, I have a Studio reservation at Vero this July, but now I'm second guessing...

Is there really any difference between the Studio and the Deluxe Inn rooms? The amenities read about the same except for the floor layout and the two Queen beds (which is actually preferable for us)

Next: Is it typically possible to get the DVC member discount off the Rack Rate at Vero if you decide to pay cash(in July)? We will be there over a weekend, so the points cost is pretty high compared to cash rates...

Any insight and/or any other Vero info that you would like to share? This is our first visit, and we are really looking forward to it. We have two DDs - 6 & 4, so any kids activities would also be great to hear about!

Thanks!

Hi Tagrel!
I have never stayed for a long period of time at Vero, a couple of day trips and only one overnight. We stayed in an Inn Room and I found it very spacious. we also had a great view of the ocean from the balcony. It was not a busy time of year so the Inn was not crowded. I have heard people complain that it can be noisy if it is crowded and your neighbors are not considerate.

I love Vero. It is layed back and easy going-more of a Florida east coast them than Disney but with lots of disney touches. There is a campfire and sing-a-long in the evening. There is also a mini-golf around the pool, bike rentals, a pool slide a playground and a water palayground based on Hooks ship-great for the age of your kids.
My children are very happy to be at the pool, watching the stars at night and doing other simple activities available at Vero. There are also excursions offered, but we were not there long enough to enjoy.
The beach is very small-good for a dip, but not for a full day lounging at the beach. If you plan on getting groceries, get them before you go over the intercoastal because there are not alot of places to shop.
Sorry I can't help you with the Studio option I was not in one. The thing I like about Vero is each building has its own parking garage underneath. No hassling w/ valet or bell hop. If you need the bell services they are available.
Enjoy!!

Well, I'd have to disagree with this statement. It is definitely not wide like HH, but there's plenty of room, it's not crowded, and long walks along the beach are great. So, by wide, I mean the depth of the sand part of the beach from the water to the vetigation along the shore is narrow, but there's pleanty fo room to spread out, nice beach chairs and umbrellas, you can hang out there for as long as you want. If you walk north of the resort to the public beach, there is a little store where you can get icecream and snacks, and a pizza place. Across the street is a hair salon if you need your hair cut.

There's a publix on route 1 heading north that is pretty close and a great chinese take out and subway right next to the publix. You can get some Chinese food, and some subs, stick them in your refridgerator and heat them up in your microwave when you'd like them for a food alternatives, or to bring down by the pool for lunch.

The Green Cabin room has live music and is very kid friendly, you can get miskshakes there. Lunch out on the Green Cabin Room balcony overlooking the ocean is nice. There's a great schedule of activities every day. They have Tennis, Vollyball, Bike riding, shuffleboard, basketball, kids board games, a sauna, hot tub and massages.

Studios will be in building separate from the main lodge with external coridors. Inn Rooms have internal coridors. Main difference is what you already cited, pull out couch vs the queen bed. More Inn rooms have ocean views than studios.

There's a nice exercise room, and a community room with some activities scheduled there. Slide closes at 5:00. Members get priveledges on Wed like free putt putt (which is only a $1.00 per person anyway). There are free videos, but I don't think the Inn roms or studios have VCRs, the one and two bedrooms villas do.

Local restaraunt menus are available in the lobby if your looking to go off site for some meals. A little store on teh public beach does have some pre-made take out dinners that looked pretty good, but haven't tried them. The small food store onsite has some necesities if you get stuck and a higher price of course. They even carry adult beverages, and I'm always surprised at the great selection they have given the small space. It is a very relaxing resort to visit, we really enjoy it there, and even when we go to WDW, we like a few days on the beach to unwind.

You'll want to sign your kids up for the unbirthday party. It's about an hour in the community room and the kids have a blast. I think you need to be 4. They have treasure hunts, bean bag tosses, and kids movies. Last time were were there they had a banjo player on the porch and they had someone making balloon sculptures for the kids. You also need to be 4 for the Kids Club they have a few of the evenings. They watch the kids for 3 hours with activities and feeding them in the evenings, giving mom and dad a little time to themselves. Snorkel class looked like fun, you get a mask and snorkel with the sign up fee. I've wanted to do the star gazing, it's amazing how many stars you can see there, but we haven't done it yet. Camp fire and smores are fun, your kids will be sining the songs well afterwards.

Just some tips.

Captn. Midnight-RE:the beach: I think it depends on the tide or the season. when I was there it was dune-y(is that a word), but the dunes were almost cliff-like. Once off the dune you were in the water. I come from a beach community where it is an 8 minute walk from the begining of the beach to the shore line, so I guess it all what you are used to.

The Inn room did have a VCR and we did "borrow" a couple of Disney classics.

Shutters was also very good.

Excellent, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Personally, I like to tape some of my shows that I don't get a chance to watch and maybe a couple of movies and take them on vacation with us.

This is great! Thanks for all the input!

I think we will be having a great time in Vero... Might have to stay a whole week next time! :)

My DW, DS, MIL, and FIL all at VB stayed for a week in November of 2002....

Despite bad weather on a couple of the days, we still had an awesome time... The laid back atmosphere at VB is a refreshing change in compairsion to the busy comando style park hopping at the WDW resorts...

A couple of recommendations I would have..
1) Do your grocery shopping at either Publix or the Super Wal-Mart a little further down US-1... Selection is good and prices are fairly reasonable..

2) Eat lunch on the balcony of the Green Cabin room... They don't have a full menu, but do offer some great burgers and fries... Plus its the only onsite place where you can view the ocean while you eat..

3) Watch the itinery for things to do with the kids.. The tot treasure hunt is cute.. We also saw a big group of kids getting snorkel lessons in the pool.. They were all having a great time. They also had a couple mornings of bubble blowing out on the boardwalk which was fun for the young kids...

4) My wife and I enjoyed the Harbor Branch Oceangraphic institute tour that VB offers on Tuesdays... Very cool, if you or anyone in your group is into science...

5) Rent a bike and go out on the nature trail... I did this in November... It was a six mile ride, and I got to explore the city of VB at my own pace...

Have a great time!

We went to Vero Beach looking for a beach vacation (on cash )came away DVC members. The pixie dust is very strong there!

Our teenagers enjoyed the DVC trip to the local AMC theatre and pizza dinner.

We have been to VB twice and stayed in Ocean View Inn Rooms both times. The first trip, our room was very large and we had plenty of room to move around. Our second trip, the inn room was much smaller and the ceiling was slanted with the pitch of the roof. We felt a little cramped in this room. We've never stayed in the studio and will probably go with the inn room again because we like being in the "main" building and having an ocean front balcony. Our kids really enjoyed many of the activities that were offered there and DH really enjoys the Green Cabin Room!!!!

With two kids, I'd go for the Inn room option with "proper" beds for them. If you want to get the kids enrolled for the "unbirthday party" you need to be up pretty early to book it as places are limited. The kids programs are great and the CMs there work really hard to make up for the lack of themeparks.

I have only stayed in the Inn Room not the studio. I did so because my Disney Guide told me the Inn rooms were slightly larger than the studio.
I also believe the Ocean View Inn Room on the third or 4th floor will have a good view of the ocean whereas studios will not. Maybe someone here can offer information on views from studio units. There is a dune with vegetation in front of the resort between the resort and the beach. You have to be above the 2nd floor in the main building where all the Inn rooms are to get an unobstructed ocean view. I have never stayed on the 4th floor but the comments here about the possibility of slanted roofs modifying your living space might make you want to zero in on the third floor ocean view inn room if it is available. Good luck!

We always stay in an Inn Ocean View room. Love the view.

We booked a studio for my MIL in October and they gave her a room down the hall from us with 2 double beds-garden view-CM said sometimes they are basically considered the same thing.

We spend days at the beach-love it, we don't really think it's too small-we usually lounge to the north of the boardwalk where it is less crowded.

There are so many things for children to do. Our kids love VB-they are 6 and 4. You will get an activity sheet at check in. Arts and Crafts, mini golf, water games, the un-birthday party, fish hunts, water balloon tosses, treasure hunts, etc. They are all fun.

The Inn rooms do have VCR's.

We always stay in 2216-can see the ocean and the pool-CM said the room above ours had 2 Q's and a pull out sofa.

I doubt you will be able to get the cash discount in July.

I would recommend a room in the main Inn-easy to walk down to the restaurants-gift shop, Green Cabin Room.

Continued thanks for all the input! The whole family is now excited about our upcoming stay at Vero!

I tried to call Member Services about 20 times today, but got a busy signal every time! I'll try again tomorrow - I want to switch to a Ocean View Inn Room, if available...

Thanks again!

For all intents and purposes, the Inn rooms are studios. The differences are that the studios have a queen and pull out full while the Inn rooms have 2 queens. The view is likely better for the Ocean View Inn rooms and the Garden view units are less points. Unless you just like being more isolated or really want the love seat instead of the second bed, I'd go with the Inn room and get Ocean view with a high floor request.

OK, I just can't leave well enough alone! :)

FINALLY got through after 1/2 day of calling Member Services on Wed.

Instead of switching to an Inn Room, I asked about 1 bdrm availability all 3 nights. No problem using either points or cash.

Cash price was 25% off for DVC members, so I went with points for Thursday night and paid cash for the other two weekend nights (Nice - no deposit required for members - pay on arrival with 5 day cancellation policy).

Saved 48 points and 'moved up' to a One Bedroom from a studio. Now if I didn't have plans for these points I could sell them to MORE than pay for the cash ressie.

We are staying in a one bedroom at WLV and BCV - so I figured it would be too 'painful' to 'only' have a studio. (That's my story, and I'm sticking with it!!!) ;)

Thanks everyone for all the info and site links! We are having a great time doing our 'research'!

I wanted a 2-BR in April but it was not available. I was able to get 2 adjoining ocean view Inn rooms for less points than the 2-BR. Gonna miss the washer & dryer, though!

The CM told me that the studios were slightly smaller than the Inn rooms.
