I just got married. I loved a tile my friends had made with our name and establish date, also a local piece of art, my wedding invite was framed by my cousin who professionally frames, and also my invite in a wine glass that was flattened and shrunk to make a cheese board.
If they own their own place, chances are they probably have a lot of stuff. Instead of giving an item that may not suit their taste or need, I would give them money so that they can put it towards whatever they want. Whether it be to pay off the wedding, put it towards the honeymoon, their rainy day fund, etc. I'm getting married soon and also own my home so that would be what I would like if someone wanted to give me a present.
When one of my good friends got married, I took the wedding invitation to one of those paint-your-own-pottery places and had the staff make a platter using the design motif on the invitation (I think it was a palm leaf or something) with their names and the wedding date. It turned out beautifully and was very unique. If you are good at that sort of thing, you could do it yourself, but I didn't feel qualified
