Hi,
I am planning a 6 day vaca to all things disney in a few weeks. I am trying to reserve a campsite, but need some help from people who are familur with this area.
the 2 places I am looking at is the KOA off happy camper place in kissimmiee. I was told they are 8 miles from the mouse
I am also looking at Lake Louisa state park ,7305 U.S. Highway 27
Clermont, Florida 34714...... I was told they are 22 miles from the dis park

My questionis.. the KOA is closer but they are charging $80 more for us to stay then the other park... I am trying to save money ..

How much farther "time wize" is the lake louisa park then the koa to disney???
I mean I know it is farther miles wize, but with city traffic didnt know if it make it $80 worth of difference know what I mean...

Also if you have any other places of suggest I am open, but am not wanting to spend more then $200 (this is why I am bringing my camper lol )
TIA
Keri

I've seen the location of KOA campground in Kissimmee, and it is about 9 miles to Disney's Hollywood Studios (that's basically the closest park to US-192). We've actually driven that way previously and it will take you about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic and time of day you were travelling.

If you were staying at the Lake Louisa park campground, I would estimate it would take you about 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic and time of day you were travelling.

I am going to move this to the Disney Campers board. We have some great camping experts there that should be able to help you out. :)

Google turkey lake campground, a city of orlando campground/park....$24 per nite, that is where we go when not at fort wilderness.....

You could also try Mouse Mountain RV Resort. It's listed as in Davenport, FL, but it's only about five miles from WDW. My in-laws stayed there when were were at the Fort one time (they wanted to spend substantially less than the fort costs) and they were really happy with it. I think they paid like $30 a night or so. They said they could see the MK fireworks from their campsite. They had no trouble getting to the fort to meet us and in most cases it took them ten minutes or less (once they figured things out and quit taking the wrong turns on Disney property, lol).

One caveat: You don't say how many people you have or how old, but I got the feeling from my in-laws that it was more of an adult/senior type of place. Not that they don't allow kids, they do, just that it seemed to be mostly an older population staying there. But then again, we were there in the winter, so not surprising. Might be different at holiday or summer time.

I agree with Cdn Friends of Pooh, 30 min to The Boardwalk Hotel from Lake Louisa, but a little longer with traffic on 192 in the morning. Do you know about taking Sherberth Road onto Disney property, or the 429 to Western Way, from 192?

Another campground is http://www.eliteresorts.com/citrusvalley/index.html

which is a couple of miles south of Lake Louisa on 27.

We stay at Tropical Palms in Kissimmee, its right off of 192, easy drive into the parks, nice campground. It is closer than the Koa.

1) Lake Louise is gorgeous.
. . . lake
. . . campground
. . . picnic areas
. . . boating/swimming
. . . activities
2) It is about 25 minutes to the Mouse.
. . . six-lane Hwy-27 south to Hwy-192
. . . four and six lane Hwy-192 to the Mouse

NOTE: My friends go there every Christmas for the week. Another
friend had their wedding on the beach.
