Mel, Thank you so much for taking the time to write to them.

I don't understand how having a wheelchair compete would coast so much either.

I wanted to do this race as I'm staying in state this year due to $$$ of having to drive to any races that I would like to do. (If I get NY then I will go, but then I will cut back on races in FL).

I thought I would give a update.....My DH spoke to the Disability Rights Advocate that we know and he told us what to write....this is the email they sent me back:

Hi Kirste,

Thank you so much for letting us know about this. We will get all the details straightened out and get right back to you with more information.

After pointing out the law there will now be a wheelchair class!!!!!!!!!

But I will not be allowed to enter as they will not allow my type of chair!!!!!!!!!

At least I got access for other Disabled pepole.

I just found and read this thread this morning.

I was flabbergasted at the wording of the original message you had received, and as I read the thread, I became so proud of fellow Dissers and you. (I also couldn't help but wonder if this Kelly had also read this thread).

It's because of people that stand up and question that we actually see change or progress in human rights.
