Need to Vent about DELTA --- Flame me if you must **UPDATE SEE BELOW***

Okay, DH and I have flown Delta no less than 5 times in the last 2 years....typically because they have the best rates and most flights to the two places we go most often.....Atlanta and FL.....well everytime we have either had a flight cancelled, severely delayed due to maintenance or some other trip bending event!!!

Tonight, DH is stuck in Montgomery, AL....He has been there for 3 weeks for training (in USAF)....has to be back to Boston by 11 am tomorrow morning to MC a retirement ceremony for one of his guys.....ookay.......

Flight he is taking from Montgomery was delayed coming in from Atlanta...I understand some bad weather down there early this evening, fine....still hope to make connecting flight from Altanta to Boston though......

Plane comes into Montgomery....assume he is now in route.....

Just calls me....first they boarded, then deboarded to fix a problem.....Takes off and 10 minutes later they are headed back to Montgomery to fix plane AGAIN!!!

So, he now is going to drive to Atlanta and take first plane out in am....which given our track record will most likely be late!!!!!


I know weather is out of Delta's control....but now 3 out of the last 3 flights we/he has taken with Delta have been severely delayed due to maintenace. Do others find this too??? Is it just Delta???????

I fly a bunch of different airlines and truthfully I find them all to be equally as good/bad. I have dealt with it on every single airline I have taken and figure I would rather them fix the plane than have something go wrong and endanger me. I've had to take flights the next day on US Airways due to maintenance and gotten back technically the next day thanks to Northwest. I think I have found it bugs me most when it is a connecting flight more than anything so I avoid them at all costs I hope your DH gets back in time for the ceremony.

oh, I totally agree I would rather have problem fixed than fly with it....the delays just seem to happen so often. We typically try to do direct flights...especially to avoid Atlanta....great city, but the airport is crazy to catch a connecting at!!! I will even pay more just to know I have direct flight!!!

Unfortunately from Montgomery, AL to Boston there was no direct flight!!! So, DH's journey home will be frustrating, but I will see him tomorrow!!!

...gives me extra time to clean house!!!!

I can attest to the fact that we've been experiencing an unusually wet and stormy month. It started pouring around 5:00 this evening, just to add insult to all of the flooding already occurring across the state

Montgomery is not a major airport. He probably would have had better luck leaving out of B'ham or Atlanta. I am surprised that they'd turn around a flight where the flight time is only about 30 mins anyway

My boss left out of B'ham this afternoon to go back to MA (he lives in Boston.) He comes down about every 3rd week but always flies Southwest out of Providence.

I feel for you though... hope he makes it home in time for the event tomorrow.

Thanks...yeah, there were limited choices for flights out of Montgomery....and as it was he was scheduled on the last flight out of Atlanta to Boston..... he also was at the mercy of his training schedule and as it was they released him a day early to go to the ceremony!!!

Good news is...he's cranky right now and wont take it out on strangers(rightly so!)....if I was there....ooooh, he'd be cranky to me!!!!

I think, aftering them having to fix the plane TWICE, I would take it as a sign that I wasn't suppose to be flying and go get on a bus or train

I hear ya!!! He was waiting to see what Delta was doing about the flight out of Montgomery...but my vote was for driving to Atlanta and taking a flight tomorrow morning......Leave me with far less worry!!!

No one-way rental cars available....

Delta is shuttling DH and other passengers via BUS to Atlanta, putting up in hotel and DH is on 6:45 flight to Logan tomorrow am...will arrive at 9:15 and just barely make it to the ceremony if all the planets are aligned!

On a brighter note --- Delta gave them meal tickets to use when they get to Altanta Airport or Hotel...mind you it will be midnight and nothing will be open!!

Until then I think he has had a bag of chips and a coke!!! So, anything I cook him tomorrow will look gourmet!!!
