Need to renew DVC annual pass

Hope someone can help me with this.

I need to renew my annual pass. It expires 6/2. I read somewhere it can be renewed a month early or a month late. Well, I'm headed down there on 6/23, so I love for them to be effective 6/23 vs. 6/2. But, last time I couldn't actually buy the pass until I got there because I'm a DVC member and get a DVC discount. I have to show membership proof when I get the pass.

So, if I renew, can I only do it there. I seem to remember walking around DD for a long time looking for customer service, which had moved.

We'll probably get in about noon on Friday, but I'd like to head straight to the parks rather than try to go to DD to renew a pass. Not a huge deal, but as a single mom with a 2 year-old and a 5 year-old, the less time transferring in and out of the car, the better.

Thanks!

You should be able to renew your pass at any of the theme parks. I think that whatever day you renew is when they become effective, so if you renew them earlier than your trip, that's when they'll start.

You can renew your DVC-discounted annual pass at any guest relations booth - that includes the GR booths at the major parks and at DD. Your renewed pass will expire on 6/2/2007.

Best wishes -

I just did this with mine, I also have the DVC discount. My pass expired on 5/1 and we arrived on 5/7. Renewed them at DTD guest relations. Since you want to renew instead of buying new ones they will have the same expiration date next year on (6/2). If you bought new ones they will expire a year from when they are purchased. You can also buy/renew over the phone with DVC member services. HTH Pam

If you want 6/23 as your new date, you have to buy a new pass vs a renewal. The DVC price difference is $16 ($335 for new vs $319 for renewal).

I have both renewed and bought new APs. Since a renewal is back dated to the expiration date of your old AP I determine how to go by how long I will have an AP that I am not using. Generally if I plan on going to WDW within 2 to 3 months after my current AP expires I will go ahead and renew in order to get the discount. If I know that I will not be going back for 3 or more months I will let it expire and just buy a new one the next time I go.

I know many people say you should renew your AP as soon as it expires so you would be able to take advantage of any deals that come along but for me, due to family dynamics, I can seldomly take advantage of these last minute deals. I usually have 1 trip scheduled for sometime in the next 6 to 12 months, with other trips pencilled in for 12 to 18 months out and hope that deals show up for the dates I have planned.

Thanks for all the answers.

I'm thinking I may just let it expire and buy new since I'm headed down in late June '06, either for MNSSHP or MVMCP for a few days and then a longer trip early June '07. Sounds more cost effective to expire because then I get three trips vs. two.

At least now I know how the whole thing works.
