Need to pack toys for cruise?

I have a preschooler and not sure how much we need to pack in terms of "keeping busy." Does anyone have thoughts about bringing toys onboard - and how much? I expect we will be pretty busy, but I'd still like to be prepared...

It's been a while since I've had a preschooler, but I don't feel you need to pack a bunch of toys. Bring some little things to occupy time on the plane or car. But once you are on the ship, there's so much to do that there won't be a lot of time to fill with toys. Make use of the open house hours to go into the club and play. And if your preschooler is at least 3 and potty trained, they can attend the club during secure programing hours as well.

We usually brought a few small toys (i.e. small jigsaw puzzle, a few hot wheels cars, or bath toys) to occupy my son while we were in the room getting ready. And, of course, we would bring one lovey. As he has gotten older, we’ve let him pick out the 2-3 toys to bring, as long as the toys fit in his carry on/backpack.

Bring the kinds of things that might occupy your preschooler while you're showering/getting ready for the day, as well.

Mine were a little older than preschool for our first cruise, but on any trip (including overseas moves) we’ve always let them bring what they were willing to carry in their backpacks. We discouraged Lego and other toys with small parts. Their favorite blanket and/or comfort stuffed animal was often included. Enjoy your cruise!
