when I am sick I stay HOME...I have 3 kids and I would not want them to come into contact with anyone who is sick so I would not do that to others...it is NOT ok to go to wdw sick and pass it around to others and I am VERY glad she thought it through and changed her dates. It is easy to see why so many people come home sick from wdw....because so many people think just because they want to go to heck with everyone else.It is nice to know some people will think of others and move their trip back a few weeks so others do not get ill.
Also even if you are not spreading it your kids are still going to feel to bad to really enjoy themselves. To the OP THANK YOU:thumbsup2 you really did do the right thing.

There is a big difference between going to WDW and going to run an errand that has to be done. WDW is a vaction not a have to thing. So no I don't think we need to get over it. I don't send my kids to daycare sick and if Im sick I stay home.

Actually there is not a difference. Like I stated, a public place is a public place. You can just as easily infect someone at the grocery store as at WDW. So are you saying that it's no big deal if you get someone sick at the grocery store because it's an errand "that has to be done?" I don't follow that logic, sorry.

1) OP, I'm so happy for you your travel arrangements could be changed and you'll be able to enjoy WDW without dealing with illness.

2) I'm humored that people are so shocked and quick to attack about people who aren't feeling 100% going on vacation to Disney World. Is it a cold, virus or allergies? Stomach bug, food allergy or mild food poisoning? Is it a migraine or sinus infection? Should people with serious and spreadable disease never be allowed to go? HIV? Hepatitis?

While it would always always always be my preference to go while my family is healthy, if my vacation time was set in stone and I was pretty darn sure my kiddos had a virus, I'd go. I know that's probably horribly offensive to some, but I would. I would definitely keep my child comfortable (i.e. rest a lot) and use hand santizer as to avoid sharing what we have, but we'd go. Just two weeks ago both of my girls had a virus where they'd have a good fever for two days, then have fever-free days and hit 101 after dinner for a week. Honestly they had no symptoms. No tummy ache. No ear ache. No sore throat. We even went to the doc to rule out infection. We had nonrefundable show tickets, which required us to travel and spend the weekend away. We went.

While I think there's a lot we can do to be considerate of others while at WDW, sometimes you've just got to do what is best for your family.

Well said!:thumbsup2 I agree 100%. I went last December with a sick brother. He thought he was feeling better and went at the last second, got there and realized he was NOT better at all. So he stayed in the room for almost a whole day. But here's the amazing part....I did not get sick! Imagine that! We stayed in the same room and everything. I was way more at risk of getting sick than anyone else out in the parks.

Needed some advice. I didn't get trip insurance, unfortunately. So do you know if
1) I could cancel and use the $ for a trip later this summer?
2) Cancel completely and get some refund?
3) Or should I try to aim and go on Sunday instead of tomorrow (Thursday)? We drive, so we don't have to worry about air.
:confused3 :confused3
Help!
-Virginia

I am so sorry this happened to you....the same thing happened to my family last October. We had to cancel because DS got a bad ear infection and the Dr. said not to chance flying.

To answer your questions:
1. Disney said we could change our dates for a small fee
2. If you booked a package, you'd get all back but $200 from Disney
3. If Disney can move your dates, sure, go Sunday :)

Good Luck!!

I am glad you were able to reschedule your trip.

My DD and I went the first week of March. We were set to fly out on Monday morning but Saturday afternoon she gets really sick. I took her to the Dr. and they said to give her fluids as much as possible and to enjoy our vacation!
She vomitted for the rest of the day and had a fever of 102. Sunday morning she was back to her normal self and ready to see the castle!!:woohoo
We had a great time and she was fine!!

Really is it that necessary to have such an attitude about this?? No people probably should not go on vacation when they are sick and most stores now have disinfecting wipes so you can wipe off a cart after use but I highly doubt that disney has disinfecting wipes so you can wipe off all ride handles and belts. Sometimes it is necessary to go to a grocery store while sick especially for a single parent who is soley responsible for taking care of their children. Or wait, should the single mom of 4, 6, and possibly 8 year old kids (just an example) make the kids go do the shopping?? There is a difference in taking a vacation and having to go to the store for food, medicine, etc. ANd yes I have taken my sick child to the store to get her medicine, juice, etc because I have no choice. No I will not take my sick child to Disney World if there is any chance in which she is contagious. Trying to justify taking a vacation with sick kids just makes it look more selfish IMO. Oh and also, by taking already sick children to Disney you risk them picking up something else because their immune system is already vulnerable.

OP: I am so glad you were able to change your vacation time and I hope your family is feeling better very quickly. Thank you for thinking of your children and others.

thank you! You said it perfectly

You are very rude. You have no idea what can happen when some people get sick. Do you have kids? Well I do and my 21 month old just had her 1st seizure. She got sick and had a fever and had a siezure do to it. So it is a big deal when people go to places sick like that. So to have an attitude like that its awful

Please, if you know you're sick or someone in your family is sick, stay home! There are make-a-wish people at WDW and other people with all sorts of health issues that can make them vulnerable to even the most benign virus. I may have to have my adrenal glands removed in the next year, which could make any virus potentially life threatening for me. We still want a chance to be able to go out and experience things. It's just common courtesy.

When I'm sick, I use grocery delivery and only use drive-thru pharmacies to minimize my contact with others.

If you have a virus, I don't believe hand sanitizers do much. As far as I know, it only works on bacteria.

So when my opinion differs to yours, it's called an attitude?

Maybe you should grow up.

How was my post rude? You are very immature! Do you attack everyone who has a different opinion than you do?

Whoa she doesn't need to grow up. She is right you have no idea what being sick can do to someone. I guess until you have a baby that goes stiff, her eyes roll back and she is making one of the worst noises you have ever heard you have no idea. Viruses aren't just simple they can cause a lot of damage. Maybe you need to change your atitude towards that

I don't need to change anything about my attitude. I think you are blowing things way out of proportion here. I have a right to express my opinion.

you do have a right but the same goes for me and no I am not blowing this out of proportion. A virus did that to my baby and IMO it is selfish to go out when its not needed sick like that. I see you have no kids so I can see how you don't understand
