Well everyone please give your ideas an opinions on what type of camera I should get.

I currently have an Advantax and really like it but it's starting to die a slow death.

I have a Nikon N65 and love it. It is an SLR camera that has an automatic setting, so the camera will do everything automaticly for you, or you can do it manually. I love the photos and it is very easy to use. I recommend Nikon, I think they make the best film camera.

I Have a cannon rebel X...when I bought it the woman at the store was very up front..let me try all sorts of camera...even though I thought I wanted one with all the bells and whistles...this one is great...it does a lot of neat stuff...but also is simple enough to learn with.

I have a Pentax ZX-10, there is a newer model now, although I don't know the number.

Cannon, Pentax, and Nikon users are all going to have their favorite with lots of perfectly legitimate reasons. For instance, I don't like Canon Rebel because I shoot with a lot of long lenses (sports and theater) and the shutter shake is too pronounced.

Work with a good camera store in your area and be very up front about the sort of shooting you are doing and think you might be doing. Discuss with them indoor and outdoor use and once you decide don't be afraid to experiment.

A great outlet for film is www.bhphotovideo.com

Their "import" version is the same as the US version except sometimes the packaging is in a different language! :p But for the tremendous savings as long as I can tell the speed I'm happy!

I LOVE
my NIKON N65 -

I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it -
it is expenseive - but well worth every dime - I keep telling hubby it is the BEST gift he ever gave me (he says he wish he bought it before all the jewlery lol)

I got mine in a package through ritz online and I got the 80-300 zoom lense - a defintae MUST have I use it ALL the time!

I also have the cannon rebel X, and I love it. I think I will love it more when I learn how to use some of the stuff. This is a great camera for someone like me and for someone who knows what they are doing.

Canon Rebel ... I have the Rebel 2000 and love it ... and when you're ready to try digital there's a new digital version of the Rebel so you can use the lens and flash attachments that you already own.

And I've used www.bhphotovideo.com to compare cameras and purchase them.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Rebel 2000! My pictures are crystal clear. Can't wait to take it to WDW.

I buy all my camera through Ritz...but I go to the local store, not the online store. I love their ESP program. I have used it tiwce with my camera and would never consider buying an expensive camera with out it! It covers EVERYTHING except fire and theft (which should be covered by home owners or auto).

I like Nikon products because the company stands behind their product. The Nikon SLR cameras also have a certain heft to them that the canon and others just don't have. I don't want a camera that wieghs a few ounces, I want a camera that feels like a camera!

I too would go to a local store and feel how some of them "fit" you. You may research one and find out that you hate how it feels in your hands. Be honest with yourself about what you need and what you will in fact use.

Most of the SLRs will take a really good picture and you probably won't be able to tell the difference.

Good luck shopping!
